Default Need some help with sampling

Hi everyone,

I'm quiet new to Reaper and generally and DAW. I have a MIDI device that I like to use to play my traditional hammer dulcimer with. I sampled the notes individually from my instrument (using Audacity) and did some noise cancellation and then normalized them.
I notice that when I play through MIDI+Reaper the low pitch notes are louder than others. And also the velocity changes doesn't seem to make a big difference in the output.

Are there any basic tips/tricks I need to learn for sampling in general?
Shall I not normalize the recordings?

Appreciate any help/guidance.

Imho the better way is:

1. Make midi track with all needed notes from lowest to highest, with fixed velocity
2. Set this track hardware output to your device (you need connect audio card's midi out and synth's midi in)
3. Play track and record instrument's audio out to new track.
4. Split notes, name them and save as separate files

Not sure that you need noise cancellation.

Do you use ReaSamplomatic5000? Didn't you forget change "min volume" from 0.0 to inf of smth lesser than 0?
