What changed here? I still see the region/marker/tempo lanes increment in the same order when resizing as I posted in pre1 thread?
Really, tempo lane is the last one that should go to 2 rows. But ideally, being able to resize each lane individually might be best.
Thanks for other fixes, though, this is shaping up really nice.
However, the bug with not hiding the <Cockos> folder in VST folders when that option is disabled (and consequently, not showing anything in "Cockos" folder under All Plugins), is still there for me. Not sure why!

By the way, semi-related to quick FX menu (but in extended MCP context)...
Would be REALLY nice to have actions for these commands: https://forum.cockos.com/showthread.php?t=197576
So that we can include the freeze up-to-certain FX functionality in our custom menus. Right now we don't have those actions, so we can't do it, and this seems perfect for the extended MCP menu for FX...

Great stuff here, thanks.
It would be nice to have an option to Add FX to selected tracks/items (instead of just the one we clicked on).

That would be useful, yes.

Also...
Which would do the "add # in front of plugin name" behind the scenes? Just a nice convenience feature

Just reporting... delay on TCP right-click FX opening quick add menu is MUCH MUCH worse now. Before 5.65pre2 it took some 3-5 seconds on my system. Now it takes 7-10 seconds before entire menu shows up. It is now totally unusable here.
The normal left-click on TCP FX button still opens FX browser instantly.
Something is broken. Why is FX browser opening instantly, but quick-add menu takes forever to open? Aren't they opening exactly the same plugin structure?
edit: same thing is in MCP too. Right-click on MPC FX slots or on MPC FX button or TCP FX button - all the same, takes 10 seconds before menu opens. And left click on any of those - opens FX browser instantly.

I assume you mean it used to take 3-5 seconds.
Would you mind taking a minute to do some brief experiments? In the Add FX dialog, Options menu, disable basically everything under "show in left pane list" and then try the quick-add FX menu again to see if it is faster. Then re-enable "show in left pane list" options one at a time, reopen the quick-add FX menu each time, and see if things get significantly slower after enabling any particular option.

Is this referring to the play cursor stutter/blinking?
If that is the case, I cant spot a difference here, still blinking.

Sure thing, here are test results. (btw, 3-5 seconds, yes).
I went on and disabled every "show in left pane...", then enabling one by one, so that just one is enabled. With nothing there, menu still takes one second to load:
all disabled - 1s
DX - 1s
DXi - 1s
VST - 1s
VSTi - 1s
VST3 - 1s
VST3i - 1s
JS - 1s
Rewire - 1s
Cockos - 1s
Instruments - 1s
Recent - 1s
VST folders - 1s
Categories - 3s
Developers - 5s
FX Chains - 2s
If I enable all from VST down to Recent, it still opens in 1 second.
Add DX and DXi, still 1 second.
Add FX chains, still cca 1s, a bit more.
Add Categories to all that - goes up to 3 seconds.
Add Devs - goes up to 8 seconds.
And this is the same every time I right-click for quick menu. In the case of FX browser (Add FX dialog), it is slower only first time after starting Reaper, after then it is instant - like it would remain in memory ready to be fired. But quick-add menu is same slow every time, like it would load it from beginning every time.
There is huge difference in loading time between FX Browser and quick-add menu. Shouldn't they be the same, since they load the same data?

Actually, if I disable Categories and Developers, quick menu now in pre2 loads much faster than it did in pre1. Before 3-5 seconds, now cca 1 second (still slower than Add FX dialog). But with Cats and Devs enabled, it just dies.

Also one little thing... quick-add in MCP / Add FX Chain / FX Chains / "my chains list". Does it really need that little "FX Chains" submenu in between. I think it would be better if chains would open directly out of "Add FX Chain". Or something... there could be one step less.
In TCP quick-add is one step shorter.

Awesome stuff devs!
Out of interest..
How difficult would it be on the tcp fx button (when you right click it) to have the ability to drag and drop reorder and also delete too?
When working on single screen laptops etc or even just in the arrange window it would be great to have that as it would stop me even needing the fx window for most things.
Probably a big ask but thought I would try?

sonicowl: can you make a .zip of your reaper*.ini and FxChains folders, and email that to support at cockos? Also, is this win32, win64, mac32, or mac64? Thanks!

Yeah, lets get rid of this:
Still can't have same key combo for FX chain insert in extended mixer and TCP yet...
Thanks!!!

Thanks devs for these useful FX improvements. While on the topic I'd love to see an option to disable keyboard input in the FX window. I'm accidentally cutting plugins every 10 minutes (my fx window stays docked.) Also, I'm still getting this glitch: https://forum.cockos.com/showthread.php?t=187444

I've got the opposite experience - First right-click of the old TCP FX button used to take about 3-5 seconds to open, now it's instant.
I also wasn't seeing Developers or Categories in pre1, now working in pre2.
The only issue I have with the Developers list is that I have over 90 of them and the list runs off the screen. Using the arrows at the top / bottom of the list is slooooow. It would be great if this could be scrolled by mouse-wheel, or with a scrollbar, or both, if at all possible.

FX Browser - have noticed that some plugins cannot be removed from their default category, although I can include them in other categories.
For example, Reaktor5 VST (the FX version) appears under 'Spatial' and I cannot remove it.
Is this intentional ?

Expected behaviour ?
I can't reduce the height of the ruler as much as before the update. Now, there are two empty spaces.
I think the new region bahaviour has to be changed. Actually it's pretty unusable.
I'm alone to think this ?

I know that it has been asked since a long time, but could you also add an option to hide / show each ruler type ?
It will be even more usefull now if the rulers take more vertical space.

If you have several regions under or upper one region bigger, you can't move thoses regions under or upper the bigger region.
So, sometimes, if you want to move regions you have to delete somes regions...
Why do you seem to don't like this behaviour ? :

To be clear, the region editing behavior has not changed at all. The only change is that overlapping regions can now be displayed in lanes.

Hmmm. I guess it WOULD make sense to be able to move regions between lanes, without inadvertly deleting them...

# Ruler: fix incorrect mouse behavior in arrange area just below ruler [p=1902425]
Thanks guys! now working like charm!
Excellent work!
Yeah, but there's vertical space lost
Vertical space is really important when working on laptops.
I Think that a fully resizable region/marker/tempo lane from 0px to max screen would be very useful
And, it would be even more powerful if a dbl click on the timeline/arrange separation line toggles between fully hide lanes (except time line) and last user size (exactly like the separation between tcp and arrange view)
just my two cents

Vertical space is not lost. When all lanes are collapsed, here the ruler looks exactly as it used to before 5.65pre1...

+1 for this. It can be quite useful actually if, for example, you have a chorus section with vocal tracks that start before the beat and you need to copy this 4 times. Otherwise, you would have to extend those split tracks back each time you copy the region
