As each Reaper-channel provides 64 channels you have 32 possibilities of stereo metering at any point of the FX chain. Just insert another instance of MUtility and set it to another output. (of course one that isn't used by any plugin in the chain.)
MUtility is naturally very light-weighted regarding CPU consumption, so it isn't a deal breaker using it for that purpose.
Oh, and of course, you will see the plasma meter :-D I made a first raw draft, but I definitely will refine it...being a part of my virtual mixer (with replaceable EQ/Comp/Sat-modules. Way more flexible than Waves' CLA mixhub)
|
Ah - I thought along those lines. There are a few JSFX you can use to output meter readings at specific points in the chain - (might need modding to allow channel selection). You could then use this at multiple points in the chain along with the MUtility plugin to adjust the readout. Might be more flexible than using having to set a different channel pair for each inserted strip - as the chain could be
<strip plugs>
MUtility (input 1+2 - output ch3+4)
Meter JSFX (reading ch3+4)
<other strip plugs>
MUtility (input 1+2 - output ch3+4 (overwrites prev 3+4))
Meter JSFX (reading ch3+4)
...
This would mean you don't need to use any other channels should you wish to chain multiple strips with the same metering.
Here's the peak meter plugin: (it says VU meter - but it reads the peak values - the author (Dr Bruce Wiggin) said he labelled it VU because most people tended to search for vu meter even though they wanted a peak meter).
<url>https://github.com/L-B-X/LBXStripper/blob/master/LBX-WigMCVUMeter</url>
And actually - it already outputs upto channel 16.
Each output is mono though - so you'd need two controls to show left+right channel readings. I don't know the correct formula to combine left+right channels accurately (I guess it depends on the scale used too).
EDIT: I guess if you're using a scale such as K14 - then you would only need one channel (as loudness would be for the combined stereo) - is that correct?
EDIT2: forgot to say - control looks very nice

GUI question for the Gang.
So, I put together a bunch of Knobs, Buttons, and Graphics. A type of 'mini' module.
Since I need to use this 'mini module' multiple times in my main GUI design ... I looked at the GROUP menu option.
I selected all the components [RT-Clk mouse sweep], then Rt-Clk'd and chose the GROUP function.
Trouble. It didn't GROUP. They are still separate components.
Something else ... It does seem the GRAPHICS are included [the Edit Mode was in FX].
I also saw the 'Group as Strip'. This didn't seem to do anything either.
How to do this ??
thanks

Either select the option Settings->General Tab->Simple Select Grouped Controls...
Or Shift+Click a grouped control to select the group.
And bg graphics can also be selected in the group.
EDIT: Group as strip works differently - it essentially makes any selected controls part of a strip (as if it's been loaded as a strip). This would mainly affect MIX MODE - but not so much the standard LIVE MODE.

OK. Worked a bit different than what expected to/when selecting as a Group. [PhotoShop habits].
Still, SHFT-CLK [hold] to move the Group around does what I need.
I can now, also, Copy/Paste all modules I need.
Yet another question.
If I make a COPY, then Paste ... this does not ADD the FX to the Chain. Might there be an option for that. Other-wise its hand link all parameters.

I don't have a Mac - and there might be something that's not working but have no way of testing.
Could you do as you say - load Stripper - hit S to go into Strip edit mode. Highlight a strip folder in the top half of the sidebar. Then right-click in the bottom half of the sidebar - and choose the Import Sharestrip option.
Select a .sharestrip file for import through the browser.
Can you then describe to me exactly what's happening (visually)? And you can manually check whether a strip file has been created in your /LBXCS_Resources/Strips/<highlighted strip folder>/.
I gotta go to bed now - but will follow up in the morning...

Here's what it looks like on this end, OS X 10.11.6. I right click and import a sharestrip and then it doesn't seem as if anything further happens. A strip file doesn't get created in the Strips folder.
Thanks.

Ok - well a box should appear showing the import happening - I'll look carefully at the code tomorrow.
Can you please confirm no strip files have been added to the folders (using the Mac's explorer equivalent).

Looks the best solution is to just drag in a new Strip of the 'mini-module'.
OR ... I've been using the ALT Channel Strip to dropin new Strips. [still experimenting with this Alt strip.
Anyway ... this method will help me update a bunch of Strips with the new features.

AAAhhhhhgggg ... why so many questions
Alright ... this one is new.
When I insert the ChannelALT-LBX-2 ... the Routing of the Reaper Track changes the Parent Track from 1-2 to 1-48, and the Track Channel changes from 1 to 48.
No idea why that happens ... even less on how to prevent that.
help

Yep - something I missed when creating the strip.
Edit the strip file -
change line 21:
change the 48.0 to 2
Should fix it for you.

I think when I was creating the strip - I'd done something to switch the channel count on the track without realizing - and it just got saved in the strip.

Working with the Channel Alt STRIP ... I've come across a small 'bug-let', or a limitation.
In my EFX Chain I'll place a Mid/Side EQ [for example AZURE-HQ].
I'll manually ReName the Plugin, 'Azure-HQ {M/S] to aid identification.
The issue shows up in Channel Alt Strip where the NAME will only show S].
If I use a '-' instead of a '/', the full plug name is visible.
Just a minor issue for sure.
Also ... I would like to extend the display of EFX in the GUI List. I need to look closer at how this was assembled ... and whether it can be Edited from the GUI ... or if this is Coded into the Script.
Thanks for any insight/help.
--- EDIT ---
I see I can Copy/Paste the FX Slots to extend the list ... however, they only display the last plugin from the original design. Hmmmmmm ...
Edit ----
OK ... figured it out. Re-assigning the FX Slot# ! YEAH.

If I didn't separate plugin names at a / then all jsfx would be listed by folder/plugin name - which I didn't want.
Very few plugins include a / in their name by default (although a small number of JSFX do).

Wee requests:
Bring 'Follow selected track' from Settings to the front - maybe somewhere beside HIDE UNUSED/SHOW ALL TRACKS
Also,
when tracks with no strips are hidden, [,] and [.] key commands should only cycle through tracks with strips
Thanks

Sorry to keep bringing up the 'Channel Alt' STRIP, but I've run into a new snag when using it.
Seems when I place it on a Track, and then need to RENDER that Item [Region-Time selection] ... the Rendered file gets placed into a FOLDER within the Project.
I'm suspecting this STRIP for the moment.
Is this caused by this STRIP ? [or have I inadvertently changed some other setting].
Thanks for any insight [or correction]

I have no idea how a script could even change the render settings. If I've stumbled on this - it might be golddust!!

When I Rendered the ITEM ... the Filename that Saved to Disk happened to be what remained after the '/' symbol. This is the first ever happening ... and using ChannelALT [which is becoming more and more useful to each Project I work on].
Obviously I've got more digging in to figure out how this happened. When CH-ALT parsed the Track Name to only what followed the '/', and then seeing the file stored now in a separate Folder ... there seemed a possible connection.
I've got more testing to do.
Thanks.
------- EDIT ---
On another topic.
As I begin working with STRIPPER again ... I've had some early issue where I forgot to have STRIPPER displayed when I Saved the Project [at least the first time].
Because of that, I have some TMP files [ex: 1982201855.lbxbak_tmp] in the Project file. Just to be sure ... CAN i DELETE these TMP files ?

I think you'll find if you put a / in the track name and use wildcard $track - Reaper will create the folder. Simply look at the output filename in the Render To field in the Render dialog.
Nothing to do with any scripts.
Regarding the tmp files. Just be careful and sure that when you next open the project - the correct data file is loaded. Personally I'd wait until I'm sure - or simply move them temporarily to another folder - so if it turns out you do need them - you can pull them back in if necessary.
Thanks to some limitations in Reascript - I'm kind of forced to make lots of save backup and tmp files - because there's simply no easy way of doing the task of saving external files and keeping them aligned correctly with a projects data held in the rpp. I've put in several bug reports and requests - but they get ignored by the devs - as I guess they only really affect me and this script.

So afai understood we can use any background images? Which formats are supported, only .png or .svg as well? Second, e.g. could I take an image of TR-808 as background, as jsfx using Tale's simple drum synth, just for the fun of it, if it is possible. For knobs, I would not add any knobs, just a number field, mouseover on the number and change the value. Would this all be possible?
If yes, we could take any real device, and place another jsfx/vst on top of it. Or place sitala on TR-909 for example.
Big thanks to Tale from here!

problem LBX
First of all!! Thank you very much for this great application! I've been doing my nebula4 channels, they've been super helpful. I have been using LBX correctly until a few hours ago. I passed a graphical sample of what I was sorry, before it did not happen to me, everything was going well. I have reinstalled to see if the problem went away but I still have the same error, which when I put my mode, I do not see the channel I created in edit mode. I also incorporate an error message that LBX triggers me when I close.
Thank you very much for the program and for trying to help me. I hope that this problem has not been reported in the past, but I have not been able to read the hundreds of pages of the forum.

Hi,
Firstly - you're in MIX MODE which works differently from normal LIVE MODE. In MIX mode - you need to add strips from the strip browser (or at least - not from within EDIT MODE).
To switch back to normal LIVE mode - simply right-click the MIX MODE blue button.
I shall look into the error message - thanks for the report.

lb0, thank you for your quick answer. I do not know if I understood it well. But with the following video I teach you that no strip is loaded in mix mode.
Before everything worked fine and suddenly, it is no longer loaded in the main panel, but if you load the plugins in reaper channel, as you can see. Also, I get two "insert", which I did not leave before
thanks in advance

Ok - in mix mode - use the strip browser to add strips. (Press 0 (zero) - to open browser).
Once one strip is inserted - then you can add via the automatically generated Strip switcher controls.
The INSERT 'plugins' are markers to ensure strips are inserted in the correct place.
MIX mode - is a special mode for inserting already created strips - and allows for easy inserting/reordering/removing - and also draws them in a rack (or row) - a little like how Ableton organises them.

I'm sure svg files are not supported. I tend to just use png's - but I think jpg's as well as other bitmap style (not vector) graphics might work.
As far as Tale's synth goes - I've not used it - but it should work so long as any parameters you want in the strip are automatable.

thanks in advance

Hmmm.
Ok - this is what happens for me (although I'm running a newer version than has been released yet - so maybe it's something I've fixed.

I do not think it's different versions, because this problem had not been for a couple of days, that's why I uninstalled it and installed it again, but it still does the same. I am unaware whether the problem is a record that 'has been left out of the carpet of scrpts of reaper ... Here I show you the procedure that you have marked me and follow the same thing.

Hmmm. Odd.
What version of Reaper are you running?
Also - are you wanting MIX mode? or normal LIVE mode?

Ok - gotta go to bed but because you mention you didn't get the INSERT plugs before - I think you were running in LIVE mode before.
Right-click on the blue MIX mode button to switch into LIVE mode.
does everything work ok then?
Maybe there's a setting that's preventing MIX mode working on your machine (which looks like a Mac - so I'm unable to test out your exact problem).
MIX mode must have the setting - Use bitmap mask control detection ticked for it to work properly.
I would always recommend having this setting ticked anyway - it uses more RAM - but without it - some features do not work properly or at all.

all ok
Hi Ib0!!
I already have it running like before. I do not know exactly what the problem was, I went to look for an older backup and I replaced everything from the day that everything worked correctly, and it has returned to everything as before. So do not worry that something to touch was to stop working. Thank you very much for help !!
And waiting for the new version he says is working out soon !! Work has been fixed for me, it is complemented. I congratulate him! Health!!

Got an error message. [latest version, Win7-64]
From a loaded Script.
A SHIFT-LeftCLK on the GUI Background [not a parameter surface], but within STRIPPER, the following error message:
...\AppData\Roaming\REAPER\Scripts\LBX\LBX Stripper.lua:43732: attempt to index a nil value (field 'dragswitcher')
Closing the Message Box clears the Stripper Window.
If error message before SAVED ... all is lost.
Consistently repeatable regardless of Script loaded.

Hi guys!
Anyone have experience using stripper with mPowerSynth ?
I'm trying building one but can't find multiparameters on fx param list, and there is a large bunch of parameter all called the same :"cc" and without any number or anything else precised.
Edit:
Well after a few more research, I did find Param 7 and Param 8 (wich wontrol multiparameters 7 and 8) but no other ones. Those 2 do work nicely though!
I tried on MEqualizer and all Multiparameters shows up and link perfectly...

Well I finally did find the answer!
And of course, yes it works perfectly, just have to search for multiparameter's name if they are already renamed in mPowerSynth, instead of param1 param2 etc...
Still I have a question :
Is there a way to size a little down the stripper, as I don't want it to scroll ? I know I can click X and Y in the top bar, but then it's too small for my need. Is there a way too tweak that ?
Thank you for this script, it rules

if i get the Q. right
just drag the left and left bottom of the corners to shrink & extend the gui?
also if you want to try there is one more way to scroll:
middle click to mouse (wheel) and use wheel to scroll up/down
EDIT:
middle click to an empty area of the Stripper or over a background images .. middle click to controls will not work.
EDIT2:
my bad! middle click to controls was also works! .. sorry!

Still trying to figure out this CRASH with [SHIFT-LEFT Clk]:
\AppData\Roaming\REAPER\Scripts\LBX\LBX Stripper.lua:43732: attempt to index a nil value (field 'dragswitcher')
I'm using LBX-Stripper Version: 0.94.0096 [Win-7 [64]].
I don't know when this began, but it is affecting all my scripts.
If I open a NEW stripper, I do not get error, put in the simplest STRIP ... error message.
Testing, I can SHIFT-LF-CLK any where around the GUI [above, below, sides] ... but the moment I CLK on the the GRAPHIC ... Boom.
Can anyone else check/ confirm ?? Thanks

Further testing.
Built a Test Strip.
Played with all of it ... could not make it Crash.
So I SAVED the TEST STRIP. Delete the Track, close STRIPPER.
New Track ... Run Stripper ... LOAD in my Test Strip.
SHIFT-LFT-CLK .... Crash Error message.
help.

Fixed in 0097
- sorry - yeah - was a bug related to strips (so only happened once controls became part of a strip - ie. not when first building)
This is the latest version of the script - which requires latest updated SWS and Julian's Reascript API. It will notify if you haven't got the correct versions on startup.
Loads of stuff under the hood - most decently tested by me - but not everything - so as usual - let me know of any issues.
Will go into more detail later on - when I have more time to write
