Convert stereo pan envelope to dual pan ?
Hi !
I just have a simple question. On a track, is there a way to convert a single stereo pan envelope to dual pan envelopes ?
Cheers,

Does that actually "translate" the envelope data? It's the same mechanism underneath everything, but they are different parameters.

Didn't read closely but I'm seeing two separate envelopes when I choose dual pan if that helps. I didn't try recording automation though.

I had the idea that the OP has already done some automation while in stereo pan mode, and wants to switch to dual pan without having to redo the whole thing or messing up what he's already got.
I'm not in a place that I can test it, but it seems like it almost can't be just that easy. Like, I'd have tried that before posting...

Ah, that's what 'translate' meant. No, it doesn't, just tested. I keeps the original stereo balance envelope then adds the two for dual to that.

K. That's what I thought. It's not exactly straighforward. Probably scriptable, but that ain't my gig.
If you want to waste a bunch of time on it, you could try this:
...Edited because that didn't actually work at all...

So...I guess...yes?
A script would sure make it easier on the user end, but it's still going to be a bit of a mess trying to get it to actually sound the same going from one to the other. I just now realized that my method above doesn't actually work right either...

Yeah. It's complex...
If you are in Stereo Pan mode, and you move the knobs, and then you convert to Dual Pan by right-clicking on the Pan knob, it'll do something, but that won't null either. You can get really close by twiddling, but... It's complex.
And that's if we're dealing with 0db Pan Law...

Honestly I don't have one in particular, I was just wondering if it was possible because that might help me eventually.

Sorry for misreading your post.
The answer to your first question is "yes, there is a way to do this".
