I don't understand what problem you guys are having with the docking. MFXlist works exactly like any other dockable script. When it is floating you right-click the top window frame, and choose dock. Then, if it does not dock where you want it, you grab the tab and drag it to the docker you want it attached to. Sometimes you need to extend the docker area either vertically or horizontally to get Reaper to show the tab, se the gif below at the end, where the tab disappears when the docker is shrunk.
(Click picture for animated gif)
If this doesn't work for you, can you make a licecap (or other screen cap) to show me?

Hey! Yes, it's fine on Win, but once MFXlist is floating on Mac, there's no accessible window context, except for info/quit.

This is so strange... it looks to me as if you have it in a floating docker. Not? Else, docking works *very* differently between Mac and Windows. Is this the same with other dockable scripts on Mac? Reaper does not give you that "Dock <script> window in Docker" menu?
In an earlier version of MFXlist I had a "Next dock" option on the right-click menu, but I removed it as it was buggy (five lines of code, two bugs!). I have fixed the bugs and I can put it back if it helps.

Hi,
well, on macOS there’s no available top window context. Other GUI scripts I installed have self-contained options to dock/un-dock, except those intended to work only as pop-up (eg. Colour Swatch). Perhaps you can add options for docking in the right-click menu, then I assume it will be fine also for mac users.
Actually I prefer having the strip in floating state, aligned on the left, full display height. Apart from this, I can understand others prefer having mfx docked, or switchable.
From my example, I use ‘Compact docker when small and single tab’. Maybe this tab-setting is confusing you?
Another thing,
For some reason MFXlist isn’t included when saving Screenset Layouts, I’m wondering if it's a consequence from using the js_ReaScriptAPI. Have you tried this?

Sorry, I haven’t noticed that. If you debugged the feature and decide to put it back I’ll be happy to check.

Sure, I can do that. I had no idea this worked so differently on Mac compared to Windows. Does anyone know how this works on Linux?

Are any docked script included with the screenset layouts?
I never really used screenset layouts. The Reaper manual says:

So it would seem to me that these are theme related things and have nothing to do with what scripts are running in which docker. I do not think any of the screensets types (windows, track views, selection sets, layouts) store the docked scripts. The only thing related to screensets and the dockers (on Windows) is that window screenset, which I do use, stores docker position and size, but not what is running inside the dockers.
I use the SWS:Set global startup action to have MFXlist loaded on startup.

Yes, ofc I meant Windows Screen Sets inside Screensets/Layouts View –Chap.12.9
Actually the old fxlist showed in the gif, that script does recall both size and positions when loading different Screen Sets. Probably it has nothing to do with MFX using js_ReaScriptAPI, just a thought.

How to dock script on Mac...?
I am baffled...
On windows, I can dock any script running in a window by right-clicking the window header and selecting "Dock script in docker" (or something similar) in the menu that appears.
I now borrowed a Mac to see how this works on Mac, and to my big surprise Reaper has no such right-click-window-header menu. How is one supposed to dock scripts on Mac?
I have undocked MFXlist and now I cannot dock it. And now I understand the problem that some people have. That would also explain why some people developing scripts on Mac to often don't bother about docking.
Is it really up to the script to handle docking on Mac?

Hi Fabian,
thanks a lot for your script! It's amazing. I'm on mac and it works great here.
I was trying to understand how to add some fx presets (the checkbox/right click), but i just have no idea how to "script" myself to change the default fxs. I'll like to put my fab filter eq and some other stuf in there instead of ReaEQ. Is there maybe Dummies guide somewhere?
Thank you in advance.

Thanks, I'm glad you like MFXlist and find it useful.
Unfortunately, the only guide that now exists is what is in the first post of this thread https://forum.cockos.com/showpost.ph...07&postcount=1. But maybe the following also helps.
The easiest way to what you want I think would be to download the MFXpreset from here https://raw.githubusercontent.com/ma.../MFXpreset.lua. Place that in the same folder where you have the MFXlist script. If you installed via ReaPack that would be something like <Reaper's resource folder>/Scripts/ReaTeam Scripts/FX.
Once you have MFXpreset.lua in that folder, you have to load it into Reaper. This you do in the Action window, click New action... > Load ReaScript..., navigate to the ReaTeam scripts FX folder and select the MFXpreset. Now you should be able to run that script from the actions window and it starts MFXlist.
Now, to add the Fabfilter EQ to the right-click menu, you edit the "USER CONFIG AREA 2/2" of MFXpreset. There is a line:
Code:
-- MFXlist.MENU_QUICKFX = {"ReaEQ", "ReaComp", "ReaFIR", "ReaDelay"}
This line you need to change to something like
Code:
MFXlist.MENU_QUICKFX = {"Fabfilter Pro-Q", "ReaEQ", "ReaComp", "ReaFIR", "ReaDelay"}
A few things: - Note the removal of the initial double minus. That signifies a comment, but now we want this to be executed code, so those two minus signs have to be removed.
- I do not know the exact name of Fabfilter EQ, so the string I used above is just a guess. You can find the name in the Add FX dialog; just select the plugin there, hit F2 and then Ctrl/Cmd-C to copy the name. You can probably remove the parentheses and what is between them to shorten the name.
- If you do not like the color scheme that MFXpreset gives you, you can comment out the two lines in the USER CONFIG AREA 2/2 that do not have -- in front of them by adding those two minus signs.
- If you do not want ReaEQ and the others on the right-click menu, you can just remove them, but be sure to keep the ending curly brace. Both the left and right curly braces are crucial.
It is a little fiddly, but not overly so. Let me know how it works out for you.

Hi Fabian,
thank you a lot for your time and helping out! I'm following your instructions step by step, i think i can manage it. But when i open the script from the action lists i get following prompt: MFXpreset.lua:7: unexpected symbol near '<'
Did i make something wrong?

Well... something is not right. Line 7 is a comment in the file. Lines 1-13 are all comments or empty lines, so should not be able to cause any errors. Also, there is no "<" character anywhere in the file.
How did you download MFXpreset.lua? Did you right-click the link in my post and do "Save link as..."?
Can you open the MFXpreset.lua, select it in the Action window and click Edit action..., and let me know what the first 10 lines or so look like?

Ok, i definitely messed up with the download! I'm sorry for that. Now i did create a new ReaScripts, saved close the other file (MFXlist) and copied and paste the text. It seems to work now.

Hey Fabian,
Idea for expanding this. The previous script I used fxlist had the ability to control the sends/returns as well via the side panel. With the same mouse modifiers and also a fader control.
It would be awesome if you could incorporate this in MFXlist. It was super handy for bus routing for linear sound design work.

Hei Fabian ! very nice and useful script! i think i will use it a lot
I wish the font could be Smaller in the TCP List as it is in the header! (maybe a setting, or a ini file?) OSX here!
Anyway is already very useful as is! Thank you !

Also this!
in my case i would like to combine the MFX with other docked GUI scripts , and this is important to be able to script a logic and to combine both! (show 1, or other, or close both)

This is nice, but what would really make it useful would be assignable controls for the parameters, with a selection of knobs of differing sizes, thus kinda making it a channel strip.
Thank you for your time and work.

I've been looking into this but haven't gotten around yet to implement it. Maybe during my summer vacation...

Font size is already assignable. If you use a preset (see my post #90 above) you can assign the variable MFXlist.FONT_SIZE1 to any size you want. The default size is 14.

I've had this request before but never understood the use case. But I see now that you do have a relevant use case. I'll look into this.

With "parameters" I assume you mean "FX parameters". If so, I'm sorry but that is way beyond what this script is intended for. Have you checked out LBX Stripper, maybe it does what you want?

The easiest way to implement this is like that. Main function is the main script code:
Code:
function SetButtonState( set )
if not set then
set = 0
end
local is_new_value, filename, sec, cmd, mode, resolution, val = reaper.get_action_context()
reaper.SetToggleCommandState( sec, cmd, set ) -- Set ON
reaper.RefreshToolbar2( sec, cmd )
end
SetButtonState( 1 )
main()
reaper.atexit(SetButtonState)

I'm glad you sorted it out. I hope you find it useful.
I haven't gotten around to update it to version 1.0 yet, I have a few things I want to add before that, but I use it daily with no problems. I hope that if you or other people encounter issues, I get told so I can fix them.
I also have on the todo list to add support for sends. Probably this will be as a separate script to start with, and then they'll merge.
All I need is time...

I want to add the possibility to have shortcuts in the header, so that when the mouse cursor is over the header, a user-defined list of shortcuts appear to choose from.
And, an earlier version of MFXlist had on the right-click menu a way to switch to the next docker that apparently was useful for Mac users, but that I removed because it wasn't fully correct. I know now how to fix it and I want to put it back on the menu.
And then there is the indication of running status that has been requested and that vitalker shows above how to implement.

I can try, but please tell me more about it. Are you saying that when the vst2 and vst3 plugin have the same name, the vst2 one is always loaded?
Is this not decided by the order you have the vst2 and vst3 paths in Reaper's plugin settings?
Have you tried to give the name on MFXlist's right-click menu as "plugin.vst3"?
The thing is that currently MFXlist just asks Reaper to find the plugin by the given name and add it to the track.

Some of the plugins are loaded as vst3 and some of them not, for example SmartEQ3 always vst2. I'll try with right-click menu name.
Upd: smartEQ3.vst3 worked, thank you!
Upd2: this trick doesn't work with Valhalla Supermassive for example.

Strange... I'll see if I can do something about this. I don't really use many vst3, so I'm not sure if I have any plugin for which both vst2 and vst3 are installed.
EDIT: Maybe "VST3: Valhalla Supermassive" works?

One of the users asked me to mod your script so it have dry/wet knobs.
It is very rough mod but seems works(it reacts to mousewheel only), maybe it will be useful for someone else.

I guess a setting could be included for this, so that it could be turned on/off. I'll check that.
Thanks.

Hi, Fabian!
Thank you for making this script!
Few thoughts about new features:
1) +1 for sends panel option
2) Possibility to select multiple fx (also on different tracks) and simultaneously bypass them. Useful when experimenting with different fx chains and want to compare them, or when comparing drum tracks with or without delays on each drum channel.
3) Soft bypass. Some plugins make annoying click when bypassed, so to fix this it would be nice to have option to automatically turn dry/wet knob very quickly (0.1 sec for example) instead of toggling bypass

1) and 3) seem not so hard to fit in with what already exists. 2) is probably a bit trickier as it would require adding the notion of "selected FX". If I get bored during X-mas I might sit down to look at it, though.

Hi!
Great script use it every day!
IU have a problem though. I was trying FTC "Toggle show left docker" and then i lost the docking on MFX. When i get the floating window now and i try to drop it to the left docker, it wont dock ( i had 2 tabs there, mixer and MFXList)
When cliking show info i see the following:
Code:
MFX-list v0.9.9
M Fabian, 2020-2021
Dock: 0, gfx.w: 200, gfx.h: 287
TCP area (screen coords): 142, 370, 756, 1762
MFXlist header: 0, 0, 200, -691
MFXlist track area: 0, -691, 200, 1762
MFXlist footer: 0, 1071, 200, -784
Looks like i need a new dock value there? I looked at the code but not sure where or how to add it.
Thanks!
EDIT: Nevermind, looks like i forgot to right click on the white space and..dock it! duh!
Thanks Fabian again for this little gem!

I have undocked MFXlist and now I cannot dock it. And now I understand the problem that some people have. That would also explain why some people developing scripts on Mac to often don't bother about docking.
Is it really up to the script to handle docking on Mac?

Is there any progress on this? I'm unfortunately stuck with a floating MFXList :/
What can I change in the Lua file to forget the previous docking state? I have tried to remove the script from the actions window as well as the Scripts folder then relocate a new version on it and load the new script as well just to have it returned to a floating state.
EDIT (SOLVED!)
If you are on Mac and stuck with a floating MFXList, you will need to go to your Reaper->reaper-extstate.ini file. Once you are in there, delete the lines for MFXlist then restart Reaper.
Load the Script again and it will be docked once run!
Just make sure you keep it docked so you don't have to go through the process again!

I'm sorry for this mess. I don't have any Mac to test on (I just borrowed one for initial development), and apparently docking works very differently on Mac compared to Windows. At least there is a fix, though a cumbersome one. But obviously this could and should work smoother, when I get the time, I'll see what I can do.

Hey it's ok!
Despite the minor quirk on Mac, it works perfectly!
In reality, it's a 5min (at most) fix.
Very happy with the script, thank you for your work!
