Default Recording Vocal with FX on the fly ?

I want to record a vocal with Reverb on the fly.

Can this be done ?

Thanks.

Yes, you could (not sure why you would want to but quite curious!).

For example, you could load it as an effect on the vocal track and record output. If a send, you could record output on the reverb as well as input on the vocal - or put both in a folder and record output on the folder.

Mind you, if you want to monitor what you are recording, you could get some latency (depending on the reverb you use).

There are plenty of ways - but what is your use case?

Thanks.

I'm introducing a friend to Reaper and he's been doing this for a long time and doesn't want to change.

So I want to get him comfortable first - then show him the many benefits of NOT printing with effects.

Right-click on the 'Record enable' button of your vocal track and select the 'Track Input FX Chain' option, which opens the track's (input) FX window. I usually put a limiter here.

As of course you know, this effect is irreversibly printed with the take.

Yep - probably the best way to do it. Forgot to mention it! Doh!
