Mat,

This is just plain theft --- presumably you didn't give them permission?

I think these "people" (I use the term very loosely)should be outed on as many sites as we can think of.

As we say in England, when I saw this, I was completely gobsmacked.

(the gob being a slang word for mouth in the UK)

I must go away and have a think about this --- and make ---dastardly plans.

Wow, that is really unbelieveable!

I would 'out' them on KVR, people should be aware of these scumbags.

Yep, I emailed them and explained the situation. They removed the product almost immediately and said their legal department would get in touch with the "sample developer".

They're called "Oveo Productions" and have other libraries on Producerloops as well. I haven't really had time to do any digging, but it would definitely be interesting to find out who were behind this rip off.

Also, my being speechless was mainly due to the laughable stupidity of it all... I mean, they couldn't even be arsed to come up with a completely different name or write their own product description! It's like they *wanted* to be found out.

Stupid fucks.

OK folks, I know this has been asked 1000 times before but I am looking for the Sampletank version of SSO. I would have sworn I had it on DVD, but after almost a week of searching I can not locate it.

So if anyone has it it would be MUCH appreciated if you could post it somewhere.

Thanks!!!

A bump for the Sampletank version of SSO...anyone?

I settled on Sampletank after getting most everything they had during the $10 expansion sale (still going on)and would really like to have this in the Sampletank format if at all possible, just for convenience sake.

So, anyone? It would be REALLY appreciated!

I'm trying to use Sonatina orchestral SFZ with Reaper. Its folder is in the same folder as a lot of other things Reaper is using with no problem, but it doesn't list the Sonatina program in the list you get from the fx button. Are SFZs a type of VST? Are they a plugin? I want to enter notes in the midi editor using piano roll and named notes for drums and percussion. Is there a video tuturial about this that anyone is aware of?

Hi nopeda-

Wasn't this thread helpful? http://forum.cockos.com/showthread.php?t=122935

There are a bunch of free .sfz players out there, and no, sfz is not a type of VST, but rather a file format for samples. You need a VST player to play them, and there are a bunch of free ones out there. It sounds like you already have one in Qirex, but I don't think many people here are familiar with that. You can Google for additional free SFZ players; there are tons.

I just wanted to say a Public Thank You to plgrmsprgrs for the ST file. Tho this is extremely late, I want folks to know that because of plgrmsprgrs I have now reduced my VSTi's by a few more units...

Once Again, Thank You plgrmsprgrs!

I've since received other requests for this, so it seems like a good idea to just post a link here. I should have zipped the library, and I'll try to remember to upload a zipped version later. In the meantime, just use "Folder Options" in the upper right screen to download the whole folder at once.

If there's some reason this should not be posted, please let me know. cerendir?

Hey all,

I've been away from everything sample development-related for a looooong time, but I just wanted to let you know that I'm working on a new version of SSO and I'm looking at a release first quarter of 2015.

This new version -- dubbed Sonatina TX -- will be a TX16Wx native library. So yes, I'm dropping the SFZ format and focusing on one single sampler.

Stand by for more details.

Hi Cerendir, may I ask why dropping SFZ format?

Tx16wx doesn't have disk streaming, SFZ would allow using Sforzando with its great disk streaming, or Kontakt and other SFZ compatible samplers...

Thanks,
Mario

Well first of all, the way most developers are implementing the SFZ format (i.e. hardly anything but the most basic of opcodes like key mapping are consistently supported) I see no point in using SFZ for anything beyond personal use. As a distributable format, it sucks. It's a bit like .mid files. You have no idea what it will sound like on the end-user system.

Sforzando is nice and all but so bare-bones in terms of interface and tweakability that it's nigh on useless for something as large and complex and interconnected as a virtual orchestration setup. It's monotimbral and requires you to fire up a text editor if there's something you need to tweak.

TX16WX OTOH has everything one would need. Everything's logically laid out, it's all WYSIWYG in terms of editing. It's multitimbral with multiple outputs. It's more advanced than SFZ. It has a built-in file browser with realtime preview. It's free (no, STX will not require the Pro version). It runs on Windows and OSX. No, it doesn't have disk streaming, but it has a 64 bit version and Sonatina is a pretty small library anyway. Personally I see only benefits in moving from SFZ to TX format.

Edit: as for Kontakt, it's a somewhat pricey commercial sampler. The main philosophy behind the Sonatina lib is providing a useable orchestration solution for people with little or no budget for music making.

...aaaand (I forgot) TX16Wx lets you create and save multis/performances/whatchacallums, i.e. a complete sampler setup with, say, all strings or all woodwinds or whatever. On separate midi channels, routed to separate outputs, yet available at moments notice to tweak whatever aspect of its constituent parts. This you simply can not do in Sforzando.

Heh heh, hey cerendir, I gotta say I love yah. You've got the right attitude and I'm really glad you've come up with the right sampler at this point in time to do what you're trying to do.

And who knows, TX16Wx could achieve DFD down the road because the creator is serious and upgrading all the time.

I'm thinking DFD mode must not be so easy to achieve because few if any of the cheaper samplers or sample players provide it, even some of the more expensive ones.

Elcallio said many times DFD is not at all a priority for him.

But I see all Cerendir's points

Hey Mario, actually I've seen cerendir mention on more that one occasion that DFD was important to him and I don't blame him, it makes all the difference in working with large libraries.

Huumm, maybe you misunderstood me, I wasn't making it a point that TX16Wx didn't have DFD, I was only stating that many if not most samplers and sample players on the market didn't have DFD.

And I was just complimenting cerendir about moving on with is popular library.

Sorry Tod, maybe you also misunderstood me

I was just saying that we won't probably see DFD on tx16wx soon (Elcallio is tx developer); I understand completely Cerendir's point of view.

I am far from trying to be rude, harsh or unpleasant, absolutely

Actually, I also bought tx16wx (pro) a while ago to support the dev

Thank you guys

I'm not holding my breath as far as DFD support in TX16Wx is concerned. Personally I love disk streaming not so much because it sidesteps RAM limitations (most of us are on x64 systems and RAM is cheap nowdays) BUT because it lets me load a big project without having to wait several minutes. Sometimes I need to switch between projects to copy this or that setting or fx chain. It just doesn't make any sense that I should have to wait 5 minutes per project or more while multiple gigs of files are being loaded from my hdd into RAM.

So yeah, I agree that DFD is probably a tricky feature to implement. And [TX16Wx developer] Calle dislikes DFD. In his words, TX16Wx is not intended to be used "for library playback". Ironically, he has created probably the world's most powerful FREE software sampler and thanks to all its features it's begging to be used for the very purpose that he detests so much A poor man's Kontakt if you will.

Hey all's well Mario, yes I'm also behind Elcallio and what he's doing with TX16Wx.

It's truly the first decent Sampler, Sample player to come down the pike in a long time that is priced so that it is available to nearly everyone.

Thanks for that. I also made some somewhat unsophisticated Maize VSTis. Not pretty but should work with almost anything as there are the four major PC and Mac formats.

I hope that I've given sufficient credit and of course everything I do is free.

subscribing. just found this sfz and i'm blown away. where has this been hiding.
bigcat, big thanks for your work in packaging these in individual vstis, i definitely prefer this over making individual fx chains containing sforzando instances, or presets. you cut me a serious corner.

looking forward to the tx16wx version but very pleased with using this through plogue's sfz player

Should Sonatina update the license?

Creative Commons has retired this legal tool and does not recommend that it be applied to works.

bigcat, one comment i'd make about these plugins is that the volume is always too loud and must be turned down to prevent clipping when playing chords. easy to fix on our end with "Save patch as default" but just a heads up

Yep, I will release the new version under a different CC license. Probably simply CC-BY.
