Default Shortcut keys plugins

Hello, every time I pull up a plugin on the screen, I am not able to use the shortcut keys for reaper and the reaper upper bar becomes dim. I understand this may be to allow users to use a plugins shortcut keys but I would prefer to control reaper only with shortcut keys. Is there a way around this?

Are you on OSX ?
If so, there is no remedy for your issue, besides mouseclick on Reaper Arrange Window to give it back focus again. .

Are you using your plugins in bridged mode?

In the FX Chain window: you can try to enable Options > Ignore FX Chain keyboard shortcuts (send to main window).

Thanks so much man! That was the one! So happy to find this option because it was really starting to annoy me! I wonder why it's not selected as default? Do people prefer to use shortcut keys with plugins?

My guess would be that it's to avoid any confusion in general for (new) users who don't know this option exists and might be wondering something along the lines like this (if this option was enabled by default):

'The FX Chain window is open. So why aren't the (FX Chain) shortcut keys working?'

Thankfully you can customize Reaper to the (default) settings which work best for your workflow

How does one control the default behaviour of this?

I would like keystrokes to pass through to Reaper when a plugin window has focus at all times. I would also like it if this could be controlled by an action.

Once the Options > Ignore FX Chain keyboard shortcuts (send to main window) setting was checked, it should stay this way (until the option is unchecked again).

Or are you looking for something else?

If I remember correctly, there's currently no Action available to toggle this setting.

No, that's it thanks. I didn't realise that that setting is sticky across all FX windows. It does exactly what I need.

Cheers,
Jeff
