[Jazz] Live Session
Dear fellow Reaperians,
Last week I recorded a jazz quartet here from Mexico. We were filming at the same time so we decided to not use headphones for the sake of the image.
Bass -> Amp
Keys -> Amp
Vox -> Monitor
Drums
Before releasing the video I would like to hear your opinion about the mix. Consider that the whole performance is one solid take and that we had amp leakage in the microphones. I can give you more details about the input list and which microphones were used on which instrument.
But for now, please rate the mix!

Quite nice! Looking forward to the video. Hope you post a link here!
Re the mix: I found the vocals a little forward. I tend to think of vocals in jazz as more of an instrument than a minstrel.
That said, it currently sounds like it was recorded in a smaller venue. Which might be exactly what the video requires.
Good job on managing the low end!

m2 at the first glance (on headphones). but adjusting the adc levels a bit got it "fixed".

I also thought the vocal was a little forward to the point where it wasn't allowing the other instruments to breathe properly. She has a very musical voice! Other than that, good job!!!

I like your recording and mix, very nice song and performance too.
Sounds very silky and smooth.
I agree with everyone else about the vocals, they could maybe be taken back a notch, especially in the first half of the song.

Thank you so much for your input guys!!!
Did another mix with a new piano preset to give the voice some freedom in its fundamentals so I could lower the volume in total.
What do you think?

Of course I will post the video when it's done!
And it was recorded outside
So, hardly any reflections at all.

I dig this music! Just days ago I was jamming on my drums along with a Sergio Mendes And Brasil '66 album playing nice and loud on my studio monitors from YouTube. I dig this music so much if there's something wrong with the mix my brain is patching right around it! Great job!
