Can't change color of an item

After crop to active take the item color can't be changed.
It can however be changed using the take color change menu items.
This doesn't make sense to me. Doesn't the cropping result in an item with no takes?

(EDIT: sorry, I was wrong, if an item has stuff in it like midi notes the least it can be is an item with one take.
However I still can't change the item color, only the take color. Weird thing is it's just this one item that I can't change the color of. Item properties says it has only one take. For other items in my project with one take I can change the item color.)

Don't know if this is a bug or if it's caused by a setting.
(FYI reaper is set to give each new take a random color)

It has 3 items and no FX. The I can't change the color of the two green ones.

If you could have a look, I would appreciate it.

They seem to be Takes of an Item so try, selecting them, right click and use the Active Takes coloring options,..

Thank you Edgemeal. What you posted does work. However, The other item above it in the file also has one take but The item color can still be changed. That I can't use the item color menu items on the green ones seems inconsistent. That was the point I was making.
