Default 'Stereo width' on the readelay plugin?

I have some understanding of how 'stereo width' works for some delay plugins, but, based on my understanding of it, having it 'per tap' doesn't make sense to me. Can someone explain this?

The 'stereo width' value for readelay can have a value between -1 and +1, and +1 is the default. What exactly does playing with this slider do? Thank you for your help!

Negative width with feedback can achieve a "ping pong" effect, if the signal coming into the plugin is initially panned left or right. (Unfortunately the pan parameter in ReaDelay itself does not work for this.)

Thank you, @Xenakios. So, let me get this straight:

+1 'stereo width' maintains 100% of the dry stereo field in the wet signal.
+-0 'stereo width' flattens the dry stereo field into mono for the wet signal.
-1 'stereo width' completely inverts the dry stereo field in the wet signal.

So, the closer this value is to +-0, the more centered / mono the wet signal is?

1 way to check is make a clone and invert phase on 1 track.
The new signal will either get stronger/weaker or stay the same when you sweep that width parameter. =)
