To me these are among the best, least distracting themes. I totally don't get people who want themes with tons of garish colors and photorealistic flimflam.

Excellent work!

Your themes are my favorites.

Could you please add a bigger, standard transport layout?

And maybe narrow mixer tracks, but I could live without that.

Would be cool if window backgrounds and MIDI editor in the dark arrangement would follow the dark colors as the arrange view. Otherwise, this looks pretty easy on the eyes, which is something your themes have a tendency of being.

Thanks.

I know, Colors in connection with the MIDI editor are a compromise- the background uses the general Window background so if its dark all other windows get dark, and that looks disastrous, while reaper uses some of the systems elements for other windows. Hopefully one day this will be separate setting (Its been quite a while since we got any theming improvements )

I like the design: simple and elegant, no 3d, distinct and well designed elements for easy reading.
A reference among all the themes.

Thanks!

Currently set as my Default Theme, i love it !

One thang though;
In my opinion, in Midi Editor, the color of selected notes against the color when these notes are unselected is not very distinctive..

Is there maybe a remedy for this ?
I.E; can this colorscheme be easily adapted, so selected notes do become more distinctive in color ?

Aside this ; Awesome job !

Which option for coloring are you using? the velocity one changes quite significantly to the lighter tone when selected. Ill see if i can improve it but dont expect whiteish borders like item selection because editing the MIDI colormap is a pain.

Thats what i thought- this option is the most annoying one to edit- because they are 1 pixel color strips. Ill se if I can imprve it.

Hi Janne,
I know you're a experienced themer and probably have the things you need, but zappadave posted some cool colormap templates as svg, which can be imported to e.g. Illustrator. Just wanted to tell, maybe it is of worth for you or someone else.

Looks great! My only note is that when a folder is minimized all child tracks disappear and you can't tell at a glance that it has child tracks there. My only complaint from your last theme was that the child tracks were too large when minimized but I learned to live with that. It would be great if we could split the difference and make them the same size as the child tracks with the default v4 theme when minimized. Thanks!!

Default ADditional/optional MIDI color map

Attached bellow is a new Midi color map with a bit more pronounced selected state for pitch colors.
You can exchange the current one in the REaperThemeZip package or
You can set it in preferences(it will work for all themes until you remove it from the preferences):

Ill also include it in the next update when I post it

If you wish you can change that yourself. Search for the rtconfig.txt in the theme package and search for this line(its at the very top part of the text where the general settings are):

tcp_heights 0 24 35 78 ; supercollapsed, collapsed, small(norecarm), recarm size

Change the value that is here set to 0 to 4 or 5 and you should get the state as the default theme. Then just resave and repack the theme.

My setting is to completely hide child track at minimal state, because I prefer it that way, and do not wish to change it for the main theme download.

Thank you.
One more small thing is that the full value of the TCP peak meter is cut off.
For example, the top channel in this image should say -0.8, but the 8 is partially cut off. Can this be fixed? Thanks!

The meter scale is automatically generated by REaper. The only cntrol we have is color. Id have to make meters wider.

Gotcha. Would you mind making an additional TCP layout that has meters wide enough to fit up to 5 digits so they're not cut off? (ex: -20.5)
Thanks!!

I'd like to have that meter scale gone, what line could I edit in the rtconfig file?

No need for code. Go to Preferences/TRack Panel Setting/ and untick the Show dB scales on track meters.

The problem is, unticking that option que dB scales disappear from the mixer tracks too. I just want that scales gone from the TCP.

In your great JanneV theme, there are dB scales in the mixer, but not in the TCP.

Thank you, the width of the meter is great!
One small thing, I notice that the track number overlaps the folder graphic at the top when they are small. (note the 2, 3, 4 numbers in the screenshot)
Also, would it be possible to get the dB scale removed for the Wide Meter TCP (or is that something I could easily do myself)?
Thank you!!

For the meters you can easily do it yourself. In rtconfig search for the Wide meter TCP layout and for the meter readouts change all this lines(marked with blue) values all to 0s:

and change them to this:

set tcp.meter.scale.color.unlit.top [0 0 0 0]
set tcp.meter.scale.color.unlit.bottom [0 0 0 0]
set tcp.meter.scale.color.lit.top [0 0 0 0]
set tcp.meter.scale.color.lit.bottom [0 0 0 0]

This will remove the readouts.

Why don't you set the wide meter tcp layout as the default one? it looks much better.

And maybe if you want to add narrow mixer tracks with colored faders, that would be great.

The theme is already amazing, Thanks a lot.

I didnt add the colored fader for all layouts because there is an upper limit for the number of layouts in a theme.

Actually I wouldn't mind darker windows overall. Guess I'd have to tweak things myself a bit, I know I made it work well with RADO v4.

Ty for your time and effort Janne83. I am testing this theme and I have to say that it is so well done, neat and nice.

I am trying to modify the layouts and maybe I have caused some problems. In the separator layout the number of the track doesn't follow the other layouts.

Finally I am trying to get a layout like TRACK 3 modifing "TCP Fader Yellow Layout", but I can't. Is it possible to be done by me?

1. For the Separator layout youll have to shorten the tcp.label a bit and then use the same numbers as the default layout for the trackidx (numbering label)

2. Colored fader caps layers are actually sublayers of the default one in my theme. The only diference is that they use different subfolders for the changed images (in your case yelow tinted fadercap image, all are located in the theme image ain folder) and the rest of the code is sucked from the default layer. You would have to create or copy a whole layout code and then point it to the right sub folder-look at the start of each layer (the subfolder name is in the second double brackets):

Layout "Your layout name" "layout subfolder"

Here you have your code of your elements

EndLayout ;

again for the case of Yellow fader (i named the subfolder for the Yellow fader yellow- have a look in the main image folder for subfolder names)

Layout "Your Yellow fader layout name" "yellow"

Your code

EndLayout ;

Hope this helps
