Hide project markers (or...)
After some searching, I determined that it isn't possible to hide project markers.
Why would I want to hide them? Well, I use regions rather than markers for most things (double-click a region to loop it, and click its name in the Region/Marker window to seek to the start of it). This works great, except...
I also really like the ability to use the 1 through 0 keys to jump to markers 1 through 10. I could use both markers and regions to get the best of both worlds, but it's very distracting and cluttered at the top of the screen to have both.
Ideally, I could create the markers then hide them so that the 1 through 0 keys still seek to them, but they are invisible. I saw a feature request from a decade ago so I guess that one isn't worth holding out hope for.
However, there is a set of SWS actions called "Regions: Go to region 01 after current region finishes playing (smooth seek)." I could remap these first ten actions to keys 1 through 10, but I don't want it to smooth seek -- I want it to jump to the start of the region immediately. Is there a way to disable smooth seek for these actions? Or is there some other way to map keys 1 through 10 to seek immediately to the start of regions 1 through 10?

I saw that, but I didn't think it achieved what I need. I could conceivably create a custom action bound to the number 1 key that loads my marker set, presses the number 1 key to seek to that marker, then loads a blank marker set. Unfortunately, there don't appear to be actions that allow me to call specific marker sets, so I couldn't put this all in the same action which would defeat the purpose.

At the top of the marker window. You can show hide marker and or region.

That just hides them in the Region/Marker Manager window. I want to make them invisible on the timeline as well.

might not be exactly what you want but there is an action which hides the marker visibility across clips
Ruler: Display project regions/markers as gridlines in arrange view
still keeps them at the top across the ruler but it cleans up the clutter especially if you use a lot of them..

Thanks, yeah I was really happy when I found that a few days ago, but like you said it just hides the gridlines. It's a little ironic since the gridlines I don't actually mind, it's more the clutter at the top when you have a bunch of markers and regions too.

You might try to change the marker Colors to be something you barely see in the grid line.
This can also be scripted so you have them automatically change Colors according to the task you doing. (E.g. you could make them same colour as your ruler that you really don’t see them.
I know this is all workaround stuff but I’m just trying to help.

Hmmm, that's not a bad idea for the time being. Thanks!

You could store the markers in a track or a csv in the project folder, then you can toggle to show or hide the markers.
in a similar way this works

While hidden, do the number keys still seek to them?

If you disable smooth seek you can get it to go to any marker in the marker track without the markers showing up top.
So whatever number you key in it will search for that by item notes name or item number then move the play cursor to that time instantly.
You could also get it to smooth seek on the next beat to any marker.

How do you disable smooth seek?

Options: Toggle smooth seek (see preferences/Audio/Seeking)
Code:
toggleState = reaper.GetToggleCommandState(40390)
if toggleState == 1 then
reaper.Main_OnCommand(40390, 0) -- Options: Toggle smooth seek (see preferences/Audio/Seeking)
end
or you can get/set the state to 0,1,3 (see preferences/Audio/Seeking)
seek_val = reaper.SNM_GetIntConfigVar( 'smoothseek', 0)
reaper.SNM_SetIntConfigVar( 'smoothseek', newvalue )
