Default Can I Use 2 Midi Controllers On The Same Track?

I have a Yamaha 88 P-95 88 controller which doesn't have a pitch or mod wheel and I wanted to get a small 25 key controller like the Nektar Impact LX25 and the use it's pitch and mod wheel (plus other assignable knobs) while recording the track on my Yamaha 88 P-95.

Can this be done or can I only use one of them at a time?

Thanks

You can but only by setting the MIDI input for that track to All MIDI inputs/All channels.

For live playing I use a keyboard and a Breath controller sending Midi Data.

They are attached to two tracks and the Midi routing feature of Reapers (see Manual "Midi Buses") is used to combine those.

No additional Midi channel necessary, as the BBC send CC messages the keyboard will not send.

If using e.g. two keyboards you can either use the same channel (the midi messages are merged) or different channels (the midi data can be used separately).

If using a keyboard that can send only on a predefined channel (e.g. a DX7) you can use a plugin to change the channel on the way.

enjoying a midi sunday here..

after a few forums and video's im still not sure how to assign 2 midi controllers, and even if its possible.

i have a maschine (in midi mode controlling reaper play/stop/copy/paste/grid etc)and i just bought a novation launchcontrol xl for mixing in reaper (assigning volume and effects to the controller faders and knobs).

i am new to this so i just found out some cc's are the same.
if i change the midi channel to 2, would that be a different CC 53 or the same?

is there a way that those controllers will Not be sending out the same cc's?

or should i do this manually and how?

midi greets

Set your input to- All MIDI Inputs and choose a channel or choose all channels.

they are independent. if you set the receiving device (or parameter in Reaper etc.) to respond to CC53 on channel 2, you can assign another thing to respond to cc53 on channel 6 for example, and they should not interfere with each other

depending on how much midi pre-processing you do, you might want to look into using Bidule and LoopMidi for this kind of thing

While there of course are possibilities to use external tools for stuff like this, I would recommend doing it strictly inside of Reaper. I am positive that this is possible, and viable even if or especially if preprocessing is necessary.

another midi learn sunday..

so i've got my midi set up to my likings
midi controller faders 1 to 8 for volume and effects on most knobs, everything is sound.

that's one reaper project, if i open another project all my track numbers in reaper change of-course and i lose all my routings to the midi controller.

example: project 1 is having the drum bus on track 3, project 2 has a drum bus on track 7, so i lose that volume control on my midi controller.

ideally i would like to have a template for all projects but can't get my head around if that would work and how, any takers on this one?

would this set up make sense?

track 1-8 'midi controller' channels/busses, these will be my templates, volume control & effects on knobs of my launch-controller xl.

then, a serie of busses (drums/bass/synth/vocals etc) routed to the track 1-8 busses.

i would like to have reaper set up so i never have to change my midi routings.

so will that 'double bus' idea work and will i not lose audio quality?
is that what you call a daisy chain?

it should work fine, with no perceivable loss of quality
