If no one is making this I will make it.
If anyone has made a start on this, please let me know. I don't want to waste my time.
Otherwise I will make this extension.
I'll post again once I have started, if no one speaks up.

I have recently 'converted' from Digital Performer to Reaper and love Reaper's routing, workflow etc. However I regularly pick up sessions recorded in Pro Tools from studios to mix. Now that many studios have (the less fascist!) PT9 and AAF export capacity, AAF support in Reaper would really change my life for the better and save me a huge amount of time (eg loading huge projects often with overdubs recorded over a week). Anyone have any news on this?! As of Reaper 4 is this at all possible? Thanks in advance.

aatranslator doesn't handle AAF, but it does native PT7/8/9 to reaper very well.
Aatranslator get from the pt9 session a lot more infos than aaf/omf will give.
you can find it :
http://www.aatranslator.com.au
You can ask Michael (developer of aatranslator) to convert a pt9 session for free as a demo.

Thanks mim.
No we don't do AAF. I had Ron look at it in depth some time ago but apart from it being more stupidly difficult than either OMF1 or OMF2 we felt that we could leave ourselves open to either legal issues and/or royalty complications. I have no intention of going into that.
Anyway as mim says you will get far more out of a native conversion of PTF than anything AAF or OMF could ever hope.

I'm wanting to transfer projects between Reaper and Auria on my iPad, and as far as I know Auria only exports as AAF.
Why is there a legal/royalty issue?
Anyone know of another way to transfer projects to/from Auria?

AATranslator now supports AAF import but apparently there are differences in how different DAWs implement the format and AATranslator only lists compatibility with Pro Tools, Nuendo and Logic. You may want to contact them and ask for a free sample conversion to REAPER and see how it works out.
REAPER doesn't support OMF and AAF, which for better or worse, are the industry-standard interchange format for DAWs. It is one of the only popular DAW to support neither format. It is a relatively frequent feature request.

AATranslator has been able to read the AAF files that we have received which originate from Auria.
Now admittedly we have only received a few but it is encouraging.
More importantly, we have been in touch with the helpful people from WaveMachine Labs (Auria) and we are currently writing enhancements to AAT which will be able to read & write to/from the Auria native session format.
I can't give a timeframe yet but I can say that we are making good progress and hope to have it available in our next release.
Edit: BTW the legal/royalty issue referred to much earlier turned out to be less of an issue than anticipated
