Default New Song - Drumatic Duo

My newest song project with Poly.

It started out as an experiment having real acoustic drums for the first half and switching to digital drums for the back half, so listen close for the switch!

The song is titled "Drumatic Duo" for both the half acoustic half digital drums aspect, and that it's Poly and I making all this noise.

Personally I marginally preferred the livelier sound of the acoustic drums but other than that superb production.

Thanks Barry. That's my thought as well. It's primarily the snare for me that is much better on the real drums. I went through every snare I have available in Superior Drummer, and the Ludwig Black Beauty I ended up using was the closest sounding one to my Ludwig Supralite snare. It still doesn't sound as good as the real thing, but it's not bad for being totally virtual.

I listened to the song through twice. It's pretty obvious where the switch happens because the drum production is very different. The acoustic drums are bigger and much more forward. The second set of drums is darker and further back in the mix. I'm guessing that's intentional. Haven't listened to prog rock in a very long time, but I very much love the adventurous aspect of it. To play all the instruments! Very cool! Best of luck to you with this.

Thanks Steve. I've learned a bit on the strengths and shortcomings of both acoustic and digital drums from this song. Hopefully both will improve from hearing them back to back like this project has them.
