Default Glitches when recording with very low CPU load (SOLVED)

and no glitches when recording with a CPU load > 5%.
How strange is this?

When I record one track in a completely new project(8 Tracks), with no FX: I record a very poor signal, full of glitches. (The original sound is barely audible)
When I record the same track, (with the same project/ASIO settings), but now with some effects (just enough to get the FX cpu use above 5 %): then the signal is crystal clear.

Normally I record 8 tracks live with a number of FX running, so I never encountered this problem. But alone at home, recording an idea...

This is Reaper 2.301.
Terratec EWX 24/96 Asio (336spls / 15/7.6ms)
Windows XP Prof SP3 (just recently re-installed everything, maybe that's got something to do with this...)

I haven't got any other problems with glitches, even with CPU loads near 100%.

I could use some help...

SOLVED

Default

The problem has disappeared... just like that.
I don't know what has changed. I repeated the same things as yesterday, but no glitches anymore.

It didn't go away with a restart of the PC. I put it in hibernating and woke up this morning... everything fine.

It disturbs me that it's gone like that (that means that it could re-appear also...).

Anyway, if I find anything I'll keep you all posted.
