How about instead of extra buttons have extra mini toolbars to right click and assign whatever to them.

Wonderfull Walter stuff !!!
For design purpose, could you add an image or button image without it pointing to a command, mouse passing throught, like the overlay example you showed ?
At some point (there is already so many magic to do right now), it would be cool to add this walter code to custom toolbars (arrange view, everywhere )

Default Free item positioning and fixed lane

Hi guys

One more thing I noticed

If you have a project in which you use free item positionning on a track for, in example

using multiple mono item to create 5.1 or 7.1 track

or using audio and MIDI on the same track, you can't switch the track to fixed item lane without having the lanes that are free positioning to be recognize as new fixed lane.

I think, it might be a good idea to keep the fixed lane tool in the TAKE lane and being able to still use FIP the way we want.

Or Am I missing Something?

Thanks

Pretty sure this is already either a feature or avail via script.

Answer: Yes - Custom toolbar and sws action

Default Crash when using action 42637 : implode lane to take

Crash when trying to get back from lanes to takes with action 42637

reproduce :

- record 3 or 4 takes on a track
- use the new comp lane feature to comp
- once finished, use action 42637 to rebuilt takes
- RPR crash when clicking on the item containing take

Windows 10 : 64 bit

tested on 2 differnt PC, same result

Thanks

Thanks for the screencap, but I'm not able to immediately reproduce this. Could you possibly post the project in the state just before you run the implode to takes actions?

[edit] Never mind, I think I got it.

Thanks but I could still reproduce it, again the rate of the item was changed but doesn't happen that often as previously though, mostly when dragging to the right and when dropping an item in lane add area while trimming other areas.

Thanks that's been fixed, but there's another weird behavior with the split and move modifier. When there are items in comping lane that's not been included in comp areas, when I'm moving the area with this modifier it deletes those items, which could be dangerous for loosing previous comps. (It makes sense to remove those items while in edit mode or with the default move area because it selects new parts, but I think this should not be possible with the split and move modifier imho since it's moving with an item.)

Thanks this almost works, it doesn't work when grabbing a fade from the edge of a comp area.

Just a heads up regarding showing the tracks on the right side of TCP, the fixed lane numbers should appear from the other side as default, except if I'm missing something.

On the third gif that I've posted above it's visible how difficult could be to grab a fade from the top corners of the editable area. So was thinking, could clicking on the comp area be bypassed at the top corners? Or maybe to remove the top thin area (or make it thinner just as an indication) to make editing easier? Then we could use the bottom part to return to comp.

The changelog line you quoted is unrelated to that issue, it was fixing this:
https://forum.cockos.com/showthread.php?p=2646012

Regarding your editable comp area fade issue, the comp area fade/crossfade overrides the source item fade-in/fade-out for items at the edges of the comp area. That's because those items are affected by editing the comp area fades, and those items also get crossfaded with adjacent comp areas. So if you want to do that edit, do it by editing the comp area fade in the comping lane.

Hello
When toggling back the track to "normal" (no fixed lane mode) all item are playing at the same time!

it's very uncovenient because you have no option to use lane and get a "only one" lane per track view

I think the "show take in lane when room" should apply to lane as well

or... better options (IMHO), why don't make the fixed lane comping tool apply on traditional take? create en empty take lane instead of a new lane?

Thanks for the Walter stuff, and being able to add an action.
Can you add two buttons to the TCP?
And could anyone have an example of this? # WALTER: allow custom controls to reference theme images and be normal buttons, using: custom mcp.custom.foo "Text Desc" command_id "accessibility_string" "button_image_name"
Thanks in advance.

Hi. An example Snapshots2.png in theme folder
Code:
custom mcp.custom.foo "" 42372 "Show UI" "Snapshots2"
set mcp.custom.foo [-5 -6 30 30 0 0 0 0]
  set mcp.custom.foo.margin [2 0 2 2 0]
  set mcp.custom.foo.color [250 250 250 1 50 50 50 255]

in TCP image work too

Ah sorry, this one was about when re-enabling comping indeed.

1) is because options/peaks display mode/show spectral peaks is enabled, presumably by mistake. Not what what 2) is about but if you have different behavior in the prerelease vs the stable version then the two versions must be using different configurations, either because one or both is a portable install, or they are run in different user accounts, or on different machines.

Wow! Does this mean we can do this now?

I feel the flickering got worse rather than better on macOS 10.14. But only during render, after render resizing is super smooth: https://streamable.com/zql1yh

Also, as I point towards in the end of this video, what is the empty column at the right good for? Can't we have Reaper automatically align the statistics columns to the right to have the most possible space for the name column instead? Sometimes filenames can be very long so the more space the better.

Lastly, as can also be seen in the video, Reaper allows to vertically resize the render window down to exactly 2 rows of statistics. The most common render situation however (I believe?) is to render just 1 file. So why not allow to resize the window down to 1 row of statistics?
