Default Reasamplomatic Question

Hi Everyone,
Quick question about how Reasamp5k plays a sample. I have a midi track that I am using to trigger drums. When a midi note is sent to play the snare sample in the sampler, where on the waveform does it start to play? Is it where the light grey starts? Some samples have space at the beginning and I want to remove it. It looks like the line that separates the left dark grey area on the left from the light grey area on the right is where the sample would start to play back from ( that is , it won't play that left dark grey area as silence). So wherever I move the line separating the dark and light gray is where the playback would start once the midi note is played. Do I have this correct? Thanks!

Yes. You are correct.
Anything to the left of the yellow
line is not used.

I have actually taken
wave files of samples and
edited them in REAPER and
rendered a new wav file
(sample) to fix those sort
of things.

Or, you can just change the starting
position of the sample by moving
the yellow line (start point) as
in your image.

Sometimes, having a bit of space
(a very small amount of blank space)
at the beginning of a sample, then
tweaking the starting
point (using the yellow line) can
allow the user to create a
certain type of "feel" to the
groove in regards to drum tracks
(Example: kick drum, snare drum, hi-hat samples).

Makes sense. I wanted to make sure I knew how it worked, in part because of what you mention regarding adjusting the feel but also removing the space if I don't want it there. Thanks for clarifying that, SMM!
