Default Latency problem.

until now ive had no problems with latency using vsts, but i was using Rea pitch dropped down 1 octave so as to use as a bass.(Im using electric guitar through the interface). This is when i got latency.
is there an easy option to correct this.
Im using Fast track Audio with Asio. Cheers! John.

Howdo John, fellow scouser in the house

Sorry I can't offer a more helpful solution mate, but just clocked you were from Liverpool

Silly question, but have you tried messing with the ASIO buffer size in the preferences?

Alright Kearnsy mate, Iwas thinking of that (asio buffer size) but i wasnt sure it could be something i overlooked in Reaper itself (seen as everything else vst works fine except the Reapitch. I will have a look at altering the buffer and see if that helps. cheers mate!

reaPitch introduces a delay (4864 samples, ~110 msecs) here, isn't that the cause?

I do not fully understand the interaction of PDC (plug-in delay compensation) and recording, but here are some brain-aching links

Maybe, select "Preserve PDC delayed monitoring in recorded items" (right-click RecArm)

Maybe try other pitch effects, like bundled JS ones. Or install a third party one

http://aegeanmusic.com/pitchproof-specs

Seems to work remarkably well (and fast).

I tried various options in Reaper last night but got latency when i dropped an octave in all of them. I will try recording the Bass as guitar and then add the effect (reapitch) afterwards and see if that will work. (This was suggested to me so i think it may be a solution, soon find out!)

ReaPitch and the JS plugins like Superpitch are all pretty laggy in comparison to other's I've used. Oddly enough the greatest pitch shifter for latency I've used came in the Tonebooster's 'Pedals' VST but the actual controls for it were lacking. It has strange min/max values and mix knob didn't go all the way either way. Strange.. but super fast.

I don't pitch shift much so haven't looked into better plugs yet.
