New: Reaper 5 PSD Template.
I promised to release a PSD template for us Reaper themers, and today I finished a first version for the Reaper 5 theme. With this template it's a bit more easy to make a theme. All images are loaded/exploded into the PSD document. They are sorted into folders and sub-folders, for easy maneuvering.
The Zip file contains the PSD with all exploded parts of the Reaper 5 theme. If you are new to theming and enjoy Photoshop as your editor, this PSD template is for you.
It currently has no scripts. In a future version, I'll maybe add scripts to export all layers. However, this is already possible inside Photoshop:
Code:
File->Export->Layers to Files.
Be sure to check .PNG and TRIM WHITESPACE. Make a test folder, because things might go wrong. (make that rule)
Older versions of Photoshop do not provide the layer export, older than let's say, CS3, I think. Here, you might need to write a script. There are scripts available. Try searching on GitHub, or wait when I update it with scripts.
Download zip with PSD: https://stash.reaper.fm/31289/Reaper...e-Template.zip
Please note that only the default layout is exploded. The Reaper 5 theme has other folders, which are NOT included. These are: strip, small, small_meter, sidebar, session and large. I could have added them, but I personally never use them when theming. I even remove them! *sorry* anyway, if you like to help, maybe you can add them.
Layers with the name: *** are backdrop layers and not part of the theme.

It also has a basic mask, to hide all images elements when designing:

Previously, I also created a single PSD, as an example, for the TCP which contains a couple of ready styled elements: https://stash.reaper.fm/v/31178/Nano-TCP.psd
It shows how you can use certain techniques to create LED's, faders and knobs by simple layer styles. But again, it's an incomplete PSD which only serves as an example.
The business logic of having the large PSD template, is that you can quickly design something unto the canvas mask, drop the images back into their folders and export them and then go do something (even more) fun with your time, like making music.

In the next version, I will add a pixel grid. This way it is easy to see the location of the items and translate that to WALTER code a lot quicker, without having to guess it's location.

Nice one! I use Photoshop extensively for my theme work and this looks like a very useful asset.

This is definately a step in the right direction as far as streamlining; simplifying theming for a large demographic.
I wanted to say that in older versions of PS all the way back to the 90's..u can export a layer quickly without a script
by simply right clicking the layer>duplicate layer....then in the dialog, choose duplicate to new doc., then save/export.
I will create an action soon for use with older PS Ver's to export all layers to files.
