USB MIDI Controller with Reaper - how to control with Reaper disabled?
I have a question - is it possible to control Reaper using external USB-MIDI controller (it's simple AKAI LPD8) when app is NOT selected?
I mean, it works great but when I have app in background and for example I want to stop playing or something other controllabel with AKAI, controller does not work then. Only when app is active.

You have to have an app that supports midi functions for the controller to work.

You mean an AKAI sampler app? Or is it something that will work in bg?

You should be able to control reaper with the akai device without any additional software. If you read your manual it will tell you that you can connect via USB or Bluetooth.
Thanks for that, I have this box unticked already, but also I haven't got any MIDI hardware enabled there. And when I want to add one, there's only a short list (no AKAI there).
OK. My friend sent me a trick and it works, but the track must be Record-enabled and input must be set to Input MIDI -> (AKAI DAW Controller) -> All Inputs. Then it works in the background.
