Default Melodyne 5 ARA2 Causing Crashes

So my situation is that when I open a project, I can insert Melodyne 5 (with ARA2 turned on in Reaper preferences) and begin working on tuning a vocal. No issues with the session remaining open while I work on the vocal over the course of 2 hours.

I can save and close Reaper without trouble. However, when I launch my saved session reaper instantly crashes at the tail end of reading all the session files during splash screen. I have tried changing the audio drivers to a different ASIO to see if it was related to that and the crash still happens. There seems to be no way to launch the session with ARA active.

If I launch a blank session > go to preferences and turn of Reaper's ARA feature and then save in preferences. I then close reaper > launch the vocal session that has all the Melodyne work I did and the session launches fine with Melodyne instantiated on the vocal track, but all edits/melodyne data is lost.

Anyone have this issue or a solution?

Melodyne support is looking into it.

It's a project that formerly used melo 4 right?

No actually its a project I just started with Melodyne 5. I know Melodyne 4 is not backwards compatible with 5.

To clarify I removed Melodyne 4 off my system completely and did a new install of Melodyne 5. All my work was inside of Melodyne 5 and when launching the saved session I am getting the crashes.

doesn't matter. It's something that melo4 writes into the project file or something.

Yes thats what this was. It was a project that's never had Melodyne 4 inserted. All that was in the project was some vocal tracks and a stereo rough mix to tune the vocals to. Not a single plugin of any kind inserted and no prior history of any Melodyne used.

Then I inserted Melodyne 5. Did 2 hours of tuning, recorded my melodyne work to a new track in case I lost the editing data (thankfully). I saved and closed the project. And any attempts to relaunch the project cause a crash. I have ruled in that it is specifically related to Melodyne 5 and ARA, because if I disable ARA in Reaper prefs the project loads fine with melodyne 5 inserted, but as mentioned I lose all of my melodyne edits and history. So it's basically just an insert of the Melodyne plugin with no audio inside it (because it relies on ARA to read the audio of course).

If I re-enable ARA in Reaper prefs, the crashing begins again.

Problems with Melodyne in Reaper have been around for a very long time. Developers are not bothered to solve the problem of the normal functioning of ARA2 in Repaer. Solving problems is only work in the Standalone version of Melodyne.

i disagree, the developers continually address issues with a product they support which don't even come w reaper and a minority of users take advantage of.
