got the fx parameters showing names which is cool
They all work on the standard bottom of finite encoders on the remote SL zero but the infinite encoders on the top row there is a slight issue in that the first of the 4 you can control (encoder 5 from the left) doesn't work and just shows a plus and minus sign, The other ones (6 to 8) work fine though if a little bit on the "fine" side (i.e. each click is at a high res, this isn't so bad though as the bottom row can be used for fast movement)

Is encoder 5 a TCP/FX parameter? What mapping are you using? (CSurf edit menu) Are you sure there's no enveloppe in read mode assigned to this parameter?
I've tried Automap 4.1 again: plugin seems to work, but it's soooooo goddamn slooooooooow! Don't know why 4.1 is so slow on my computer (Remote SL Zero v1, WinXP SP3), but I went back to 3.7.4. So far so good...
I'll be coming up with x64 version soon, stay tuned. I also read earlier posts...
@-R-: thank you very much for post #408 !!!
@Xenakios: welcome onboard! In case you're interested I'll make the latest source code available soon. I'm using CMake and several scripts to set things up automatically now. I've also converted documentation to Latex, still trying to find an easy way to get that one updated when I add new controllers instead of doing it manually

The SL dynamic one I think. I will check when I have time if it was "locked" because of automation, I'm sure I checked more than one but maybe not

Here we go: last rev with nice installer, 32/64-bit, and a new .pdf documentation file.
http://www.p-c-m.org/temp/AutomapCSu....129-win32.exe
I'm using a new system to handle versions:
<last known working version of automap>.<private SVN revision number>
So 3.7.4.129 means it's rev129 and should work Ok with Automap 3.7.4.
When it comes to Reaper... last version ok course! ;-)

Since I've moved to MAC for most of my work I've now realised how much I miss your plugin.
Am I right in guessing that porting this to OSX would be very difficult?

Maybe not so difficult, it's just that someone's got to do it and I don't have a MAC to try things out on my own.

Just wanted to say thank you so much for creating this plugin, Padre. I've been using it for a few months now and it has already made the Novation SL Zero pretty much inseparable from Reaper. It's brilliant.

This is a strange feature request, but would it possible to have a version of this plugin which has the incrementing track control removed?
The reason I ask is that with large projects Automapserver.exe can sometimes cause Reaper to slow down when (for example) hiding/showing very large numbers of tracks in the TCP. It would be really useful to have a deliberately "limited" version of the plugin which actually ignores the audio/MIDI tracks in a project and restricts the functions to Master Track, MIDI Editor and Assignable Controls.
Thanks.

Hello all !
I'm new to this forum, but used Padre's plugin with success for several weeks.
First, thanks for your great job Padre. Really helpful, and greatly concepted.
I have a big problem sinc i updated Reaper to 4.15. Automap doesn't work anymore. I tried updating automap (to 3.7.4), downgrading Reaper to previous 4.14, upgrading Sl MKII firmware, tested USB ports, in fact, every test or trick i could think about.
It doesn't work. Nor Transport or faders are working.
I'm on Vista 32 bits, Novation Remote 25 SL MKII, Reaper 4.14, AUtomap 3.7.4.
Any ideas for fixing my problem ?
Thanks.

I found the solution by myself. Unistalled and reinstalled everything (Automap, Reaper and SWS)
I don't know what was the problem. If you want more informations for troubleshooting, just ask.

I have this working pretty well so far with an Impulse and Automap 4.
As long as I keep "Assign first page to global parameters" unchecked and don't in any way shape or form mess with the mixer and encoder assignments then all is well.
I can change plug-in assignments OK by using "set as default" (but only with plug-ins).
So just to say thank you so very much Padre!

Hello everybody,
Just a quick update about my current activities regarding the Automap CSurf:
- Windows/Automap 4 : working. I still have performance issues with Automap 4 on my own Windows XP setup but it doesn't seem to be related to the plugin. On the other hand, I've been using the plugin successfully with Automap 4 on another Windows 7 setup.
- Mac OSX : UPCOMING! Big thanks to Novation for their support on this project. I've been developing the Mac port of Automap CSurf for the last few weeks/months. It's almost 100% working now. I will be able to upload a beta .dylib very soon so you can give it a try.
Best regards

Awesome, finally I can see what it's all about on my Mac. Do let me let me know if there's anything I can do to help testing or building (I'm not an expert, but am somewhat familiar with most of the OS X dev tools).
I'm trying to create a system that will put Automap to shame, btw. Although I have a long way to go in terms of configurability, I think it is already working out quite well so far in terms of superior control.

I just picked up an MCU and then found this thread. Although a nice unit the MCU has a ton of stuff I will never use. So now I am considering the Zero SL MKii.
But I have a couple of question:
Can the Speed Knob be mapped to act like a Shullte Jog?
Can the Cross Fade-fader be mapped to the master volume of the mixer?
Thanks,
Duff

Having a ReMote & a BCF2000, in your position I'd keep the MCU.
ReMote faders are unprecise (128 steps), too small.... it is useable for a few things & great for VST automation but not for mixing. It is more a Reason machine than a Reaper machine.

The .pdf's too large to post as an attachment. If you download the latest .zip it's in there.

The only .zip I see is the source code; the installer packages for x86 and x64 are .exe:s, which don't seen to just be disguised .zip files either. The .dmg for Mac does not seem to contain the guide; and I can't unpack the .exe:s on my Mac.
It would be quite useful if the guide was available directly, since at the moment, a Mac user (like me) can't seem to easily get at it.
Best wishes,

Thank-you!!!
Just wanted to say a huge thanks for providing this plugin with detailed guide.
I've been spending days on and off trying to get my UF8 and remote SL keyboards to work with Reaper properly.
Could only get a 3 of the transport buttons to work with the HUI set up and was just beginning to try and map the controls manually when I found this thread.
Wow! so many more options and all appears to work so far.
Currently using the dynamic set up and not quite sure how it switches away from instrument automap back to the main controls but I've only just begun playing so I'm sure I'll get there.
Thanks again for such a great job.

I'm having a really difficult time getting this to work on my Mac running 10.7. At first I was trying to use it with Automap 4.4 and saw in the attached PDF that 3.7.4 is supported so I uninstalled and downgraded but still haven't had any luck. Any other Mac users successful with this? Care to walk my feeble mind through the steps to properly install it?

This thread came up new ... as a 'Nocturn' user, I've recently updated to the latest automap software.
My question ...
What does THIS app do ??
Let's just start with that oh ... and why wouldn't I just use automap ?
Thanks for any kind replies and enlightenments!

Broken with Reaper 4.26?
I just upgraded to Reaper 4.26 and the CSurf plugin doesn't seem to be working (both 32- & 64-bit). Anyone else have this problem?
Thanks.

A HUGE thank you to Padre PC for csurf. It's so much better than the HUI stuff that Novation have implemented

http://www.p-c-m.org/temp/reaper_csurf_automap.src.zip
* Info:
This plugin is aimed at Novation Automap users who wish to use their controller (RemoteSL, RemoteSL ZeRO, Nocturn, RemoteSL MKII, iPhone, etc) as a Control Surface within Reaper.
* Status:
- RemoteSL (ZeRO), RemoteSL Compact, iPhone, Nocturn supported.
- 32-bit/64-bit Windows supported.
- Mac OSX Universal Binary under beta-testing.
* Requirements:
- Reaper v4.0+
- Automap v3.7.4+
* Installation:
- Run the installer and read user's guide carefully.
* Optional:
- Send your feedback so I can enhance the plugin.
* Known bugs:
- Plugin leaves empty Automap pages when reducing number of tracks during a session: "this is not a bug, this is a feature", or more likely a dirty trick to prevent Automap Server from crashing when an active page is supposed to be deleted by remapping. Sent an email to Novation about that.
- Automap cannot allocate more than 2048 parameters per preset. With current mappings, 2048 parameters means: 202 (iPhone), 328 (RemoteSL), or 504 (Nocturn) tracks max. I may add an option to split between multiple presets if there's a maniac out there using so many tracks
- Automap won't refresh on: GUI FX chain on/off, Track Send and Track Hardware Send parameters change (vol, pan, mute, mode, etc.). The Reaper SDK is not ready for that (feature request for Cockos).
- iPhone buttons and Nocturn/MKII LEDs behave strangely: buttons are used as momentary commands but the Automap SDK won't see that. (fixed?)
* Feature Requests:
- Novation: New Client:: method to send text to LCD screen (currently only available through sysex)
- Cockos: TrackFX_XXX() functions for TCP/MCP FX Parameters knobs (parameter name, formatted value)
- Cockos: IReaperControlSurface::SetSurfaceXXX() notification on "save as..."
- Cockos: IReaperControlSurface::SetSurfaceXXX() notification on FX chain on/off
- Cockos: IReaperControlSurface::SetSurfaceXXX() notification on FX selection
- Cockos: IReaperControlSurface::SetSurfaceXXX() notification on Track Send Vol change
- Cockos: IReaperControlSurface::SetSurfaceXXX() notification on Track Send Pan change
- Cockos: IReaperControlSurface::SetSurfaceXXX() notification on Track Send Mute change
- Cockos: IReaperControlSurface::SetSurfaceXXX() notification on Track Send Pan change
- Cockos: IReaperControlSurface::SetSurfaceXXX() notification on Track Hardware Send Vol change
- Cockos: IReaperControlSurface::SetSurfaceXXX() notification on Track Hardware Send Pan change
- Cockos: IReaperControlSurface::SetSurfaceXXX() notification on Track Hardware Send Mute change
- Cockos: IReaperControlSurface::SetSurfaceXXX() notification on Track Hardware Send Pan change
* Bug Reports:
- Novation: Automap Server crashes when active page is deleted by remapping (?)
- Cockos: GetSetTrackSendInfo("I_SENDMODE") does not refresh IO window
This post will be edited each time a new version is available.

-------------------------- /EDIT --------------------------
-------------------------- ORIGINAL POST --------------------------
Hi there,
I am a musician/software developper. I'm not currently using Reaper as my main DAW but got interested in this fine piece of software few weeks ago.
I noticed the current HUI implementation recommended for Novation RemoteSL is rather weak, so I started playing around with the Reaper SDK. Check this out:
http://www.p-c-m.org/temp/reaper_csurf_automap_demo.dll
My current implemention includes: all transport commands, Vol/Pan/Mute/Solo/Arm, automatic refresh, real track names/values (dB for vol, % for pan, etc.) on the RemoteSL.
The tempo pot on the RemoteSL is used to switch between "Track View" (= all tracks listed) and "Mixer View" (= "MCPMode" = only tracks visible on the mixer window)
This current version is a DEMO, limited to 5 tracks max. I haven't bought a Reaper licence yet. Since I got more time & C++ skills than money I was thinking about buying my way in through this plugin, e.g. setting up some kind of donationware system. As soon as I get enough to buy the licence (the $60 one) everything would be free, unlimited, and open-source. Any Automap users interested?

Just tried the last version of the plugin. Doesn't work on Mac (OS 10.8) with Automap 3.7.4 Automap doesn't show on control surfaces list as supposed to, so unfortunately nothing to test yet.
