Default Problem: How to get Delay FX to trigger in time? (Too long of a delay for first tap)

I'm trying to record vocals but need a tap delay to the beat. No big deal with outboard gear synced up but when using ReaDelay or any delay VST, there's this initial extra pause before the taps start!?!? It's like it's not processing the first tap on the beat but off a bit so while all the other taps are in time, that first one is off.

Sound familiar?

It's an Input FX - Am I asking for the impossible? It works if it's applied post.
I'm almost looking for a time slip option for incoming FX?

Are you sure theat the "first tap" you're hearing is not just the actual monitored signal delayed by the system latency?

What is your interface, buffer setting and reported latency?

If you turn off the FX do you hear the monitored vocal without any delay?

Why are you recording vocals with FX?

Ahhhh crap.... it was Ozone 7.... forgot about that. When turned on, it delays EVERYTHING in the input. DOH.

Turned off and it works fine.
