Default 2 new albums online

Hi gang,

It's been a while since I posted any new music, but my computer system unexpectedly DIED and had to be completely replaced. So I finally got a new computer, got Reaper and all my other tools up and running and we're off.

I decided to release my first album recorded on the new system under my actual name instead of Dimaension X (just to try something new):

Red Gnome by Dave Lanciani

Just wrote 20min review of both albums, went to save and got "forum.cockos.com is temporarily down". WHAT THE F**K!!

Ugh...

Dude, all I can say is the review was glowing! Great job! Love Red Gnome.. I think "Proxima Centauri" was my favorite, although there were a couple.

Enjoyed a several cuts off "Thrv the Black Door" too! "Unmoral / unsterblichkeit" being my favorite. That should be on the radio! Did you perform on this release, or just record/mix?

Great job! Tons of creativity!!! Love the drums on "Red Gnome"... Would love to know what you're using. Guitars were massive on "Thrv the Black Door". Real?

Yep there's a lot to like, I've heard the first two so far, the rhyth/tempo changes work great.

Thanks for listening, guys!

Sooooo ... the drums on Red Gnome are stock EZ Drummer2, the Modern "Power Batter" setting.

And I'm glad you liked Thrv the Black Door, too. I did actually perform everything, except the vocals which were done with Alter/Ego.

The Guitars on TTBD were all my Schecter Omen 6, tuned to E Standard, running thru a Mooer Mini Preamp 005 Brown Sound pedal direct. Mostly double-tracked, but a few were quad-tracked.

"Unmoral / unsterblichkeit" was inspired by some of the soundtrack music from an episode of the TV show "Legion". And Opeth was also a big inspiration for this one, too. It's also my favorite from this album.

I'm working on a 2nd, and 3rd Thrv the Black Door album, hopefully completing them for Halloween this year.

Here's a more detailed guitar signal chain for the Thrv the Black Door album.

Schecter Omen 6 (GFS Power Rails pickups)
into
Digitech FreQout
Joyo Vintage Drive
Mooer Micro preamp 005 Brown Sound
Morley Mini Volume Pedal
Earthquaker Devices Transmisser
Earthquaker Devices Avalanche Run
into
Focusrite Scarlett 2i2

The rig is basically the same for the Red Gnome album, but switch out the Mooer Brown sound for either a Joyo ACTone, California or British Sound pedal.

Interesting.. Thanks for detailing the guitar (and drums) Dave. So you're committing to your guitar tone at record time? I can't tell if the Mooer pedal provides a DI too. Interesting pedal. I watched a couple videos on it.
