Toggle solo on tracks should be instant/atomic

Hello,

When I want to A/B 2 tracks inside my session with more tracks I first set one to solo and then select both interest tracks and keep toggling solo for both, thus alternating the soloed track.

If however there are more tracks on the DAW, whenever I call this action one hears for an instant all the tracks in the background before switching the solo to the other track.

If I use toggle mute instead this doesn't happen. Can you make it so the engine performs the toggle solo at the same time? I.e., doesn't un-solo the first track (thus having instantly all tracks in the session playing) and then activates the solo on the second track?

Yes, this is annoying, and it has been pointed out before.

As a workaround, I implemented a JSFX to do ABX'ing:

You send the tracks that you want to ABX to different channels (1/2, 3/4, etc) on the track where this plugin is, and then you can switch between the channels, either by choosing a particular channel in the dropdown, or clicking the Next and Prev buttons. It also has the possibility to mute the selected channels, but then it lets thru all other channels so use that with a little care. Note that it starts up with no input channel selected, so output is silent.

It doesn't work for all use cases, but for referencing different tracks it works fine (for me).

but I'd like to see the developers address this, instead of using workarounds which require more steps, as it is something so basic that it doesn't make sense not to work as it should.

BTW, I'm not dissing REAPER, I think it is an amazing product, I'd just like to give my feedback so they can improve it.

I can give you a test project if need be (although it's quite easy to replicate, have 3 tracks in total, select one of those to solo and now toggle solo with that and another non-soloed track) - you will get the bug behaviour.
