Digits dropped from track names (FIXED)

[I have split this out from the pre-release bug reports as it's in v2.5x too, and is tripping me up)

When I drag a media item into the arrange view to create a new track the name from the media item is automatically assigned to the track.

On inspection it looks like number sections at the beginning or end of the item name are dropped (unless that would mean a blank name). Number sections in the middle of the item name are retained.

Here's some items dragged at random. You can see the differences.

In some cases useful info is dropped but I'm not sure what the right solution would be.

Confirmed. This leads into confusion when you drag-n-drop loops with different tempo information but same name:

The Issue in the Tracker http://forum.cockos.com/project.php?issueid=175 is shown as fixed, but I believe that it is worth a revisit.

Understood, but I strongly feel that trailing digits should be retained (make it a Preference if needed). If I did not want a clip named "Athmo 01 001" then I would change the track name to "Athmo" first.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding something but I'm not sure how rendering "Live Jam 2009" would result in "Live Jam 2010" though - I specify the render name myself.

Chiming in to vote for a fix for this, as a setting.

I am always sharing workflow with others and the truncation in the track naming causes a chore for me. The data is important enough that I end up copy-pasting it from the properties of the wavs after I drag them into the session. For thirty or forty stems, that can turn into its own little meditation.

The fact that blank tracks take on the name of the first wav dragged into them is a great feature, and I suppose it is a testament to how much I lean on it that I am still complaining about the way it doesn't suit my workflow.
