Default de-essing items

Advice please.
I am going to try to use ReaXComp to help reduce the sibilance in three chorususes.
The lead vocal is the worst offender, whilst the two backing vocals make hardly any hissing noise.
In fact the sibilance is just on the words CCCoast and EaSSSt in each chorus. So could I split these two parts in each chorus and put the ReaXComp effect just on the split items?
I have already tried reducing the volume on the offending parts, which has helped to some extent but not enough.

Thanks in advance.

Personally I wouldn't split the items. No need to use multiple FX instances of a de-essing plug-in, you can put just the one instance on the track FX and control it with automation envelopes, eg Bypass.

Also, as an alternative, worth having a look at this:

You´d find a great tool for de essing is the built in function of spectral edits in reaper.
Some tips in this video - > https://youtu.be/vSBO_VC9q3E?t=191

I mean, if it was literally two ssssss hits I'd just slice the sssss parts out and drag the item volume down on them and be done with it. No need to vet for unwanted artifacts and keep moving!

Has anyone tried remove these type of edits on an edit by edit basis with spectral editing? I have not yet tried but imagine it could be a good approach.

Back again with de-essing.

I was trying out a Kenny video for de-essing (trying out all the different de-essing options available)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WGPJ1Uiyqz0

Everything was working out fine until I got to about 5.43 minutes, when he says to shift the detector input on the compressor to "Auxiliary Input L+R"

My detector input does not include that option!

From the top I have
Main inputs
Auxiliary inputs
Main input channel L
Main input channel R
Auxiliary input channel L
Auxiliary input channel R
Feedback (prefader)
Output (feedback, deprecated)

Any idea what I should do in this case please?

Well, I suppose I should use "Auxiliary inputs", shouldn't I?

The Kenny video on using the Pre-FX envelope is good, too (ctrl+drag to draw) - you can see the effect of edits on the peak display, and esses are pretty easy to spot. Are you maybe recording a bit hot?

Funny thing is that since trying out Kenny's system on my vocal track it has turned into a stereo track. It doesn't sound any different but I now see four strips of green lights instead of two!
I copied the setup to the backup vocal and lo and behold that has turned stereo as well. Why does this happen and is there anyway I can benefit from this phenomenom?

I'm not in front of my system at the moment. But if I remember correctly, adding anything on a sidechain as channels 3&4 will turn the entire track into a 4 channel track.
