How to eliminate the"imported" addition
How to eliminate the"imported" addition on the name of some media files taken from the explorer?
To edit 1500 files with one export per item that must keep the same name, it is just impossible to work. Why is Reaper changing the item name ?! Would there be an option not to have this intruder?

My system doesn't have that behavior. All files import with their filenames unchanged, even when copying files to the working project directory (or not).
My system: Windows 7 64-bit, Reaper 64-bit 5.77
I looked in the preferences for the word "import" and I didn't notice anything which would enable or disable that behavior.

to avoid this put the files into your project folder first, then import into the session.
if you import the same file twice then it's copying to your project folder twice and renaming the second one to avoid other issues.

Thanks for your message ! I don't understand... what's strange is that it normally works on some item import but on others, as the gif shows, there's this intruder! I tried renaming a file without putting the.wav extension and importing it back into Reaper and the intruder disappears... mystery!

That's a little strange; they're not the same files but they come from the same folder!

I'm surprised that's the solution since I wasn't taking files from the project folder. I'd even specifically saved to a different folder first just in case (after seeing some option about "copying to project folder" in the preferences, thinking maybe I should set a folder for the project to test for that).
I know Jon uses a Mac. Do you use a Mac, Vincent? Maybe this is different on Windows.

I still use Windows 7...so I guess there's a possibility of the OS differences affecting the outcome.
One more thing: my character set is probably different from yours. I use only English characters in my file system.

Adding"imported" is imposed if the dragged file from the explorer does not come from the project folder. Am I the only one who finds this abusive, not to say anything else, without other options?
Especially since this intrusion does not act until the project is saved.
Something else I find impractical. When I edit samples, I cannot save their edition with the same file, overwrite the original files, I am forced to create a new folder in which there will be these duplicates edited. I understand that the files used in Reaper are not destructive, but I would like to have an option to save time and avoid these duplicates. Would the option exist?

I think I complained about this before when I was on Win 7. I'll see if I can find a thread
