Default Question about moving or copying regions

Hi guys. Hope you all are healthy and safe and had a wonderful xmas.

It's reported in many places on this forum, that you can copy or move regions around the project, by clicking the region bar with control or shift, in order to copy contents and envelope points, easing up the process of arranging songs.

Now, being a blind user of REAPER, I'd love to be able to use this feature, because here I work with projects where I have to copy stuff all the time to create multiple variations of certain sections.

In my case, I'm working with radio jingles, and for each cut I have to create several versions for a theme. As those themes might have different tempo and lots of automations will be created, the project will have lots of tempo map information and envelope points; copying regions of course will help us to focus on making the songs and then we can worry about rearranging them later.

Plus, giving the dynamic nature of this area, , making several small songs like those on the same project keeps things faster during a recording session, since you don't need to close and open projects to record each small song for the package. You just select the region or marker and... Pow, hit record and go.

Is there a way of accomplishing the same task using the already available actions or via a custom action?

If not, here is a suggestion for the next REAPER update?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Peace,

Edu Camargo.

Of course, all of this is now easy!

In the "preferences" you can define very accurately
what modifier should do what: move only or copy when
you drag a region. Or select time-selection when you
double-click on a region.

Check the "preferences" and set them as you like!

Yes, I found the mouse modifiers area, and they are already configured, yet still needs you to look at the region area and do ctrl+drag to perform this action.

My question is if there's an action or a group of actions that I can assign to a key stroke to perform the same task.

Thanks anyway.

Peace,

Very promising add-on scripts. Thanks for pointing me to this.

I've installed the Ver 46 scripts and now I'm trying to figure out how to make this work.

I noticed that it really copies the region cue, but now how to make it copy, not just the region, but also its contents?

Or am I mising something?

Thanks again.

Peace,

Edu Camargo.

There are 2 GUI's that use these scripts, ReaTrak region editor (Chord Sheet) and the Circle of Fifths.
They should copy the tracks & items.

Script: ReaTrak insert measures at cursor.lua
Script: ReaTrak remove measures at cursor.lua
Script: ReaTrak copy measures at cursor.lua
Script: ReaTrak paste measures at cursor (insert).lua
Script: ReaTrak paste measures at cursor (over).lua
Script: ReaTrak paste measures at cursor (chords only insert).lua
Script: ReaTrak paste measures at cursor (chords only over).lua

@MusoBob:

Thanks for the scripts, but seems that ReaTrak misses the copy of tempo envelopes to do the whole job.

So I'll have to look something else.

But thanks anyway.

You could get it to copy the tempo events in the script and paste them.
