Force reaper to always be active?

I want to use a midi controller to control Reaper for some live playback during my roleplaying session and I need it to always stay active for my controller input to function, when other folders, documents or browsers are open/active. Are there any settings that allow me to do this? I've noticed that it works as long as I'm playing sound in Reaper, but it goes offline, when Reaper is doing nothing and I'm looking at something else.

Yes, it's possible.
Options -> Preferences -> Audio, untick 'Close audio device when stopped...'

Options -> Preferences -> Media, untick 'Set media items offline...', if needed
