+ MIDI editor: support snapping to measure regardless of time signature
This does not work for Irrational time signatures, the arrange does not either.
Try an odd time signature like 3/11 and the midi editor and the arrange snapping do not work. You can set the project to 3/11, and the midi editor will work with the correct grid setting, but not snapping.
I realize the time signature is a little odd

A small bug in the "Snap / Grid Settings". I have the "Snap media items to nearby media items up to" option turned off, but after each program update it is switched on again.

This works pretty great, devs, thanks!
There is one scenario which could possibly improve.
Let's consider this: two measures of 3/4, two measures of 7/4, two measures of 5/4. We enter a note in the first 3/4 measure there, then we want to move it snapped to measure grid. For the first two measures it is fine, snaps on every 3 beats. But as soon as we move into the 7/4 measure, it doesn't re-adapt its snapping to 7/4 measure, it continues snapping to 3rd beat. It should immediately change to snapping to that measure's timesig, don't you think? (Same thing happens in arrange view, and it should be adjusted to behave as suggested above there as well, methinks.)
That's one thing. The other is that we're missing the set and toggle actions for this new grid division, so please add those so that we can add this to our toolbars

Maybe it goes without saying, but maybe not: if arrange and midi editor use the same division, setting to measure from midi editor changes arrange, but not the other way around, currently.
I wish we could have snap to visible grid lines only, like in arrange, for the midi editor.

Snap settings are stored per-project

Time signature like 3/11?
What is the length of the note 11?
May be 11/8 or 13/16 but not 3/11.
Explain, please.

Start a new project.
Go to project settings, and set the time signature to 3/11 and the bpm to 11.
Enter a couple of bars of midi.
Open the midi editor and set the grid to 1/121.
You now have 3 divisions of 11 notes each.
Reaper's midi editor is really cool for allowing my musical weirdness to exist.
2/23 doesn't work though

Nice feature.
Could you add "envelope points move with media item only on the same track", please ?
Sometimes, we can move item on an another track to test some new arrangement possibilities. The issue is than sometimes, envelope automation/automation item below the item can unintentionally modifie VST which are on the track where the item has been moved.
And it would be possible to be able to copy/past (Ctrl+C/Ctrl+V or Ctrl+left drag) automation item + item at once ? Actually, at the same time, we only can cop/past either one or the other.

That would be cool if it could work for irrational timesigs as well. I mean, that's the whole point of calling it "measure" - it should be a grid/snap of exactly one measure's length, no matter what the timesig of that measure is.

Now REAPER floats the second FX in the chain when Melodyne is inserted.
1 - Insert a new track
2 - Click on the track inserts (the FX browser will show up)
3 - Look for ReaEQ and load it in the track
4- Close the ReaEQ UI
5 - Look for Melodyne and load it in the track
Result: ReaEQ will be opened (float)

+1
Yes, please add this. Moving AI between tracks is not 100% safe. Sometimes stray duplicate AIs are added to original track while moving midi to another track. It helps to manually disable "Envelope points move with media items". But it is a hassle to disable it evey time.
I never need AIs to automatically move with midi between tracks. I can copy them afterwards if I need them. User option, as described above, "envelope points move with media item only on the same track", would solve the problem.

Yes I agree with that, and have set measure in the arrange now, but snapping does not work for every grid size in the midi editor. Try 1/242 (notes are only out by a little, sort of auto humanize).
Strangely 5/3 shows correctly int the arrange.

@zappadave.... there is no such thing as 3/11 time. The second number in a time signature tells you what kind of note receives one beat. So it will always be a 1 for whole note, 2 for half note, 4 for quarter note, 8 for eighth note, etc. No such thing as an eleventh note.

I think Reaper just uses the decimal that results from 1/4, etc. you can enter 0.25 or 3/12 and get the same thing.
Main thing is that a midi item has a ticks per quarter value. Default 960 is divisible by 2,3,&5 but not 7, for example.

Then it's a good thing we can enter a custom number of PPQ in Preferences, isn't it?

Maybe in the days of quills and paper manuscript, someone came up with rules for scores based on multiples of 2. With Reaper, I can do things differently, so if I want three divisions of 11 notes per bar, that's what I use and enjoy.

Oh yes.....Thanks ED
Doesn't seem to fix snapping in 3/11 though.
