Default Ribbon on vocals - no EQ, no comp, no reverb

This is the only time I have managed to record the vocals with a ribbon so that I enjoyed the result.
But I don't think I shall repeat this approach much -
one of the main reasons I did not apply any effects was that all my attempts caused the original take to sound worse. I'm not that much of a mixer here.

"When you held me":

(there's an effect on the master track at the beginning, but it gets going then)

how does it sound like to your ears?

It sounds perfect for this song/style

The sound/style reminds me of one of my favourite quirky pieces of music used in,"A Clockwork Orange" e.g"I Want to Marry a Lighthouse Keeper".

Great stuff.Brought a smile to my face

Also reminded me of the great,"Bonzo Dog Doo Dah Band"

With the greatest guitar solo ever <BFG> :O)

PS
I got to see them live several times

I like it! May I ask what microphone you are using to record the vocals. I love the character of ribbon mics. I picked up a RCA 77DX outside of Nashville some years ago and I absolutely cherish it. Anyway, there was only one thing I thought could be changed and that was the cymbals, they seemed loud in relation to the other instruments and very harsh. Other than that, great job.

Did I mention I like it?

Blessings

mine is called as Golden Age R1 MKIII.
I have not tightened the ribbon yet, perhaps I should.

Really enjoyable, and the vocal fits it perfectly!

Nice video, too!

I see the Bonzo's link (and Neil Innes, in particular). I have a soft spot for this stuff, and this is nicely done!
