Default Reaper opening last project on startup

Under prefs/project I have "Load template project when starting up and not loading last projects". Despite this everything time I launch Reaper it loads my last project.

Reaper v4.31 (32-bit), Intel, OSX 10.7.5

Reaper opens last project by default.

If you go to the start menu > Reaper > load new project > this will do what you want. I have two shortcuts on my desktop. One is the normal launch, and one is for new projects.

Interesting. The PPC version did not behave this way (I just moved from a G5 to a Mac Pro). Also why the "Load template project when starting up and not loading last projects" preference check box if it does not do what it says?

I think it does do what it says. It loads a template instead of the default if the last saved project is not loaded. Or that's how I read it anyways.

you need to run REAPER - create new project.

I don't know why the default behavior would have been changed.

If you launch Reaper from the start menu and not the desktop icon, you'll have a slew of useful options.

As far as not loading the default template, you might have inadvertently changed it.

I apologise if some ones said it BUT I don't think anyone has...

In the short answer when you go to Preferances/Project theres a
location field/browser button above it.

In this field you have to point Reaper to a template file that you wish it to open as a default project.

hope that helps

I was gonna say the same thing. You may have Load template project when starting up and not loading last project ticked, but you indeed need an actual template project file for it to work.

To do this, start a new project then save it somewhere - I saved mine in the Reaper directory. Next, point Reaper to that file as the above post describes.

Maybe it's been said already, the "Load template project..." option only comes into play when you tell Reaper to not load the last project.

To prevent Reaper from loading the last project, disable Preferences -> General: "Load last project on startup".
