Default Can i record midi pitch bend to volume fader automation.

I'm not a programmer but I expect that's what is needed for...
I want reaper to detect when I move a midi pitchbend controller.
Then start to record automation for volume fader to selected track. (say +/- 3dB) RELATIVE whatever the existing level is.
Then switch back to read mode when I return pitchbend to centre.

Welcome to the Reaper forums.
I suppose you can use a tool such as ReaPack->ReaLearn to map Pitchbend to a volume fader (with lots of translation options) and after hat it should be possible to record the envelope.

It's easy to map pitch bend to fader.
And probably easy enough to record the automation.

The difficult part is recording changes RELATIVE to existing level. ie +- 3dB.
Then returning to read-mode, when pitch near centre.

I want make changes as I monitor a repeating loop, and judge in real time by listening, as I push/pull the controller. Then make additional changes next loop if needed.

I suppose what is suggested by Reaper is using "trim" instead of the fader for that purpose.
