Default update: AI in media lane: right click deselects multiple AI selections

i'm trying to glue these adjacent AI via right click menu, but right clicking a selection of multiple AI deselects all but the right clicked object. compare the behavior to the same actions performed on midi items, above

EB: right clicking doesn't deselect all other selected AI

EDIT: the issue is that 1 pixel movement you can see my mouse cursor making before right clicking.

the act of pushing a mousebutton often causes a small mouse movement. the same inertia/correction that has been added elsewhere needs to be added here too

I tried to reproduce this and I think the issue is as soon as you make at least a tiny mouse movement when rightclicking it's interpreted as marquee select and selects only the AI clicked on.

If I concentrate to do a rightclick without any mouse movement I can open the context menu without unselecting the AIs.
Can you replicate?

you're exactly right. thank you for correcting me.

tiny mouse movements bite again! we need to compile a list of situations where these cause ui issues. and a list of where they've been fixed.

Gotta say took me a bit to figure out though.
At first tries I got the same behaviour as you show in the gif (unselects other AIs) then I noticed it's erratic (sometimes it doesn't unselect) until I noticed it's the tiny mouse movement getting in the way.

Agreed, this should also have a 'prevent tiny mouse movement from triggering marquee select' mechanism imo.
(I hope it could be done so it doesn't break my 'draw tiny rectangles to unselect envelope points' method. ).

more details about this behavior.

it looks like it's dependent on the AI being over the item. i am unable to replicate nofish's behavior
i'm in win10x64, nofish, what about you?

if no item exists under the AI, it's possible to right click multiple selected AI

if an item DOES exist under the AI, it's impossible to do this, regardless of how carefully you don't move the mouse. i'm over here confirming that the mouse doesn't move at all while right clicking, and i still lose selection

note in the below gif how the only way to keep multiple AI selected while right clicking is by clicking the itemless area.
