Default 64bit App in a 32bit environment

most of us are aware of the benefits to having a 64bit audio application (Reaper). One subject i do not see discussed though is, the effect a 32bit O.S. has on said appliction.

its pretty simple -

you cant run it.

If you are talking about the 64 bit audio path WITHIN reaper, that is a different story.

but a 64 bit app cannot run under 32 bit windows.

Default 64bit App

Ok now I am talking about a 64bit Application such as Reaper or Sonar ETC.
Installed in an operating system that is 32bit.
Unless I am mistaken (possibly), windows xp is a 32bit O.S.
When we install Reaper and run it in this environment, do we not lose some of the benefit Reaper has to offer being 64bit end to end?

64 bit floating point audio paths have nothing to do with the OS or the app being 32 or 64 bit executables. 32 bit OS and apps can use 64 bit floating point numbers with no problems.

very nice find indeed, one of the things (other than vista itself) that has put me off getting my laptop "restored" to vista 64

will be very interesting to see how this pans out, and as someone on the kvr thread noted, it is crazy that no one else has jumped on this one before
