Hi guys, regarding the new appearance options introduced in version 5.75, that allow for midi ccs to appear on items in the arrange view...is there a way to have the old behaviour back? i tried in the Options menu but I wasn't able to do that...it's not the end of the world of course and I'm sure the idea itself is great, but I'm not sure I like how a project is looking now...
here's an example:
...not sure I like all those "PC" indicating program changes.
what do you think?
thanks a lot for your work!
all the best!

Can confirm that this fixes this report: https://forum.cockos.com/showpost.ph...36&postcount=8
"Stereo" VST3s now appear to work correctly on mono tracks.
Thank you.

Hi,
I couldn't agree more. The thickness of the velocity and cc lines are toooo thick! It looks horrible, IMHO. And the item space devoted for these is too much relative to notes. I hate it! Sorry, IMHO.
And some items notes are much larger verticly than others. You guessed it...hate it!
Please, please give us the option for the old way. Please.
Sorry some sort of irrecoverable paste thing.
And now the original quote....

Why not delete the quote if it already ended messed up? Just adds unnecessary scrolling to the thread... Or quote the post again then paste it properly this time (It's also polite to remove the huge image in order to reduce the amount of scrolling necessary ) It's easy to see where the QUOTE tag went wrong, btw
That said, I very much like the improvement of displaying CC data in arrange view, ESPECIALLY where program change and sysex are noted. This is useful info at a glance, I don't want to see it removed.
Also, notes seem all the same thickness to me in majority of cases. Of course if you have more notes than available pixels in an item, some aliasing will occur, but there's nothing you can do about that.

Hi,
Ed...that's as good as my tablet let's it.
One of the things I'm talking about is cc or velocity indicators. They are like 3 times the width they used to be.
Another is the space dedicated to viewing these indicators. Too much IMO.
I'm not against having the ability to view whatever you want, but please allow the option to have it like it used to be. Thinner indicators.
And the option to view just what we had before.
For me, the arrange view is not where I need to have detailed views of these messages. But that's just me. I understand the need for other ppl, but this makes the arrange view for me a visual mess. For me. I liked it the way it was. Would it be that hard to have the option?
And in any song I have with multiple midi parts, there's always some set of notes that are much thicker verticly than others. That one just kinda "bugs" me..I guess I could get used to it if I had to.
Thanks
Also, by memory, PC were shown before..not sure about sysex.

But it's not DETAILED! For more detailed, you go to MIDI editor. This is just more informative than it used to be. Which I found great in my workflow.

+1
I agree with ED, the visual feedback saves a lot of unnecessary mouse clicks(opening and closing of the midi editor)

I think it would be good that the reaper by default displayed all written cc-controllers. Now he duplicates display of controllers as in a midi the editor. If in the editor of a midi only the velocity display is included, then in an main window we won't see the written-down controller. Synchronization of the main window with the MIDI editor should be added optionally.

Hi,
I'm not against seeing CCS in the arrange window, but its new implementation. We always saw CCS in the arrange window. But now the bars that represent them are too thick. And now you also have this envelope type shading. When looking at ,say, 16 or so bars, it looks bad. For me, now its hard to tell what's going on without zooming in. But, I guess I can stay at 5.70 until I can't take it anymore.
And what's the problem with having the new look optional? There's a million other optional things. For ex. I NEVER use the track list editor. I realize many ppl wanted it. To me its too complicated, but its optional. Wonder full.
Nobody uses the inline midi editor? I do. Wouldn't mind slightly more cc info there.
But, I would be happy with just having the arrange view the way it was with an option for more detailed info.( the new look).
Thanks
Guido

At certain point, you reach the "too many options" problem. I'm getting a hunch Reaper devs are trying not to add too many new options as of late.

Hi,
Well ED,
Here we disagree. I sincerely hope that you are wrong about the devs on this one.
I also think..or hope... that once it gets to release that others may find the new look not to their liking.
But in any case, dear devs, please, please consider this option.
Not all of us dig fl or sonar.
Thanks

It should be useful to have an hybrid approach with automations, I'd like the option to edit them from the arranger view without the needs of opening midi editor for that purpose. I know I can do that with envelopes but sometimes I have to use internal CC lanes.

Frankly I feel this is not something that important though I can understand those who prefer having the arrange view the way it was as an option. I think it is so late, we are soooo used to options in Reaper, really cool ... and awful.
