Anyone have experience and comment on Terry W's Channel Strips ?

I'm thinking MHorse P3 mkii and CS12m. I'm ready to invest some time and effort if these compare to mainstream VST's more reviewed and visible.

I find MHorse p3 to be impressive. I have tried many eq,comp limit combos of my favorite vsts (some commercial) and MHorse stands up to all. It doesnt have the most modern gui but the sound is top notch. Worth your time

MHorse is a highly under-rated mastering software. I have mastered recordings with it that have left Ozone owners astonished.

Cool! Any thoughts, by comparison, about Terry West's CS12M or CS-12 Master Strip? I plan on investing plenty of time and effort, but very new to Channel Strips right now.

They are both works the same, MHorse P3 is 3 EQ version and parallel, and CS12M is a bit old, not updated.
I would choose MHorse P3 for on your marsterchannel.
You can use it on a trackchannel, but it was made for the master.

I've recorded through Terry's plugins, and I'm pleasantly surprised with the performance. It's on par with the paid software. He needs someone to help with graphics, though... unless you're like me, and happen to like the 70's disco style.

I like what I've seen so far, but I wish there were manuals like Variety of Sound.

These plugins are pretty intuitive, but I'm having a bit of trouble understanding what EasyVox does. Does it automatically compress and eq the incoming audio?

Working on the manual for MHorse P3, will available soon.
Keep you notified about it, in the meantime try some presets, it's not difficult to understand.
EasyVox is a compressor and equalizer designed special for Vocals.

Short update:
Mhorse P3 updated to v2.7.

Tube PreAmp added.
Master out Invert added.
NY Comp behaviour update.
Special snap/body & stereo width added to NY comp.
LP/HP added.
Some GUI and controls tweaks.

All who donated get a new free downloadlink soon.

This week a new release: EQP3, whole eq section of MHorse P3 converted for channel use.

Fantastic news! Just when I realised (no joke) how much I like MHorse, especially the serial EQ section. Time to donate then!

EDIT: a suggestion/request re the exciter section. Don't you find that the range is a little over the top? A value of "1" is already too much most of the time. What do you think about a lower minimum frequency option? Like starting at 1500Hz for example? (I have no idea about the "circuit" of the exciter and if that request technically makes sense)

Made the Exciter range smaller (25% less) so it should be smoother.
Managed to tune back the High Exciter to max 5K, can't be lower without get notable distortion in the circuit, i want avoid that.

Terry .... maybe crazy place to ask this, but here goes. I have some of your great plugins and enjoy them, but almost everything I record is VSTi audio. I may want to start adding live vocals.

Why do so many sites/forums I monitor talk so much about Compressing Vocals? ... sometimes a lot? I'm not experienced at mixing, but understand some about Vocals in the Mix. I'm asking after watching videos of Vocal tracks solo'd and lots of work with a compressor on the vocal alone.

Hope you can explain so I can understand this right here. Also, do the Pro singers then tend to
use similar compression live, so they sound similar to their recordings?

You better search the web for this.
Yes i use a compressor on vocals for steady them and keep them in the mix.
I'm a singer also and never used a comp for live situations.

Just wanted to say thanks for the excellent plug ins. I just used several of these plug ins for the first time and put them in the FX slots next to what I normally use so I could A and B the effects.

I won't be replacing Ozone or some of my channel strip plugs, but the West plug ins are definitely in my "Favorite" FX bin now and I've already had some very favorable results from several acoustic guitar, vocal and dobro tracking sessions using them.

Hi< I use the CS12M a lot, but saw that V 1.66, an older version, had a few features that I would like better. However, how can you download this? I tried all afternoon, no dice, everyone wants you to have the latest bell and whistle, but you need to keep access to older version, OK, this is probably for Terry West, please help me get the older CS12M, thanks, psingman

Thanks, Terry, appreciate your assistance esp.with my request for an older version, have been using a few of your plugins esp. the one with the equalizers in them for awhile now. I know that for me, to get a project done, I need to get all the errant frequencies under control and in line for a bit of mixing then some mini mastering. Your vsts do that quickly and admirably. I would like to learn how to use all their functions better, but just use my ears, thanks again, psingman

I just made my donation and downloaded the plugins. Haven't got a chance to dig in yet but it seems like some of them compensate for those who have heavy hands when mixing. Which is a good thing. Like the parameters don't go far enough to destroy the audio, so it's hard to do too much. On the other hand, for those of us who have trained ourselves to have a light touch, it seems like you have to push the knobs harder than other plugins in order to hear the effect. I've only really tried the 'easy' bundle and a few others so I don't know if it's like that with all of them

Most of the Eqs are parallel by default. This would definitely make it subtle. The M horse P4 is my favorite mastering tool for that reason.
