Default The sound of the Render

Hey folks,

I'm a total novice using Reaper or any other DAW. I thought I'd solicit your opinions about the render function though.

I recorded and mixed an album essentially all analog through a mixing console and had it mastered by a professional dude in town here.

I pretty much okayed it, and now I've decided I want to do an additional fade on a song.

I have the 24/88.2 mastered files.

I know that rendering or digital 'summing' as it were is frequently avoided by a lot of folks.

What about a single stereo track though?

If I make an additional fade on a 24/88.2 file and then render it, is there any loss? I'm trying to keep the final album's fidelity as high as possible.

I'll try it and see if I can tell a difference of course. I'm just wondering what you guys know about it. ? ? ?

the usual BS and myth-talkers at work.

analog summing: a + b + c + ... = z + analog noise, crackles, whatever

digital summing: a + b + c + ... = z without any annoyances

so what do you prefer?

dont listen to the stupid people ...
