Here is a simple one:

255 0 0
255 255 0
0 255 0
255 0 255
0 0 0

* make sure you do not save it with a .txt extension on the end!

To make your own, just go through the colour chart in the theme editor, pick a colour and view the RGB numbers on the right.

Hi Bevosss, thanks!

(I wrote a long post, shot like 3 pics and 1 gif to show you it wasn't working with your example and just when I was about to hit the "Submit reply" button I thought "maybe I should just restart reaper"... that made it work).

LOL Yes, I confirm this bug: happens often to me.
expected behavior: no stress, "Submit" is just a button
current behavior: the "Submit" button acts as a bullshit and/or a beeing nice (tm) filter, well.. most of the time.

All you needed was to click on the "pallette" icon in the toolbar, and click on "Set custom colors", then click through 16 custom colors and see the RGB values

243 180 92
241 204 116
240 233 98

106 173 240
100 134 225
179 146 239
198 120 226
232 117 211
232 106 150

I still can't get this to work for me. Where exactly does the default.reapalette file go? Does this set of colors replace whatever default set of colors REAPER uses to randomly color tracks and media items?

Thanks!

Hi, your r/g/b color specifications should be made as a list in a text file named "default.reapalette", which should be placed at the top level of REAPER resource path.

Be aware that your system may be set to hide extension endings, so make sure that the file is named exactly as written.

– If no special SWS coloring features are used, the reaper palette will always be selected, e.g. if you use the native coloring actions. With these actions, however, the colors will always be applied in the written order, so randomized does not work from there. This may actually be preferable, especially if you want a consistent color appearance. The list of colors can be very long.

I hope it helps!
