Seems to be working after some quick tests. One thing I noticed while testing is that use of:

Edit: Select all notes in time selection
or
Edit: Select all notes starting in time selection

only unselects notes in (active or editable) items that are touched by the time selection. Is it bad? I'm leaning toward yes. Was unexpected to me anyway...

In my tests so far, everything seems honky-dory. Short buffers (even 0 length) and buffers with '\0' characters are resized and returned correctly.
