By the way I use Logic MCU in the FP8
Maybe try disconnecting the FP1 and the Console One as they’re not defined in the prefs. Also try MCU mode rather than Logic for the op mode.

Default Sends Display with Faderport 8

Hi, when I switch page with McuSend.axt, it shows only the sends for the first effect for all tracks.
In other words, I see on my fp8
first screen (Vocal) the amount of send to Reverb
second screen (Bass) the amount of send to Reverb
second screen (Guitar) the amount of send to Reverb
and so forth...

But if I have a 2nd send for a delay on each of those tracks, how do I access them?

Is it possible to see all sends for the selected track?

tks

I don’t think so. Besides the 2 buttons are only defined in MCUSend.axt, so are still available in other Pages.

Rev 1------Rev 1------Rev 1------Rev 1------Rev 1------etc....

In Klinke it's like that of the actual selected track.

Track1-----Track1-----Track1-----Track1-----Track1------etc....

Reverb-----Delay ---- Chorus-----Distor-----Saturation--etc....

Ok, cool, what does it look like if there is only one plugin ?

Are the rest of the tracks blank ?

So in my C4.axt I just swapped TrackOnSelection MapFX to Widgets for TrackOnFocusedFX MapSingleFXToWidgetsForTrack and now only the focussed (active window) FX maps to the surface.

C4 looks like this:
Code:
TrackOnFocusedFX MapSingleFXToWidgetsForTrack

SlotUp Reaper _S&M_WNONLY1
SlotDown Reaper _S&M_WNONLY2
TrackL Reaper _6e6967db562a45f3b499d3b9daaefd60
TrackR Reaper _172419af88f947d1b7205e75478aa4b7
SlotUp/Down is SWS/S&M: Float previous/next FX (and close others) for selected tracks

TrackL/R is a custom action comprising:

SWS/S&M: Close all floating FX windows + Track: Go to next track

This closes the floating fx windows opened by SlotUp/SlotDown, when you use the C4 TrackL/R buttons to move to a new track. Stops too many FX windows staying open and making a mess.

Big advantage of TrackOnFocusedFX MapSingleFXToWidgetsForTrack is no more collisions on the surface, as only one FX is mapped at a time and navigation is by slot, which is how most people conceptualise the FX chain. Also, on a C4, all but the biggest (most parameters) plugins can be mapped in full.

There does seem to be a bug in the latest build that causes the master fader to disappear from the surface- be good if you could try it out and see if you get the same results- might just be me
Thanks, i'll try this out tomorrow when i have some time.

You can use keyboard shortcuts or setup 2 other buttons in the SENDS page to scroll sends up/down. For instance, i use the metronome/click button on my surface (plus one other, i forget) that will change send selection on tracks with more than 1 send. i use buttons that I wouldn't miss when in Sends mode (metronome, for instance). It's actually really easy and a good workflow. .

But, I also like the way it works having all sends on a selected track...ala Klinke.

Hey Geoff, just to touch on the Klinke implementation a little more, as I think it is pretty useful way to setup.

Expanding on what Seby mentioned, the additional sends (if you have more than 8) can be viewed by banking "pages" (separate from CSI pages) via mute or solo buttons (I forget which). The mute/solo are not used as mute/solo in this mode, and if there are any additional "pages" then a corresponding light would indicate so. For example, if you have 10 sends on a track, 1-8 will show on tracks 1-8, and the Mute on track 1 would be lit indicating another page of sends, pressing it will display 9-10 on tracks 1 and 2. I forget how to go back to page 1, but you get the idea.

This methodology was used for plugin control also, where mute buttons would select a plugin and the solo buttons would select the pages of parameters for that plugin.

Yeah, this puts us back into that matrix navigation discussion we had a while back.

Have to ponder this for a bit...

Oh yes, I think that was centered around plugin control. I don't recommend that, I think what we have now is great and flexible enough. But would it be as complicated for sends?

I'm ok either way honestly. I have gotten used to the way it is now and don't remember how it was the other way

Yeah, it's a balancing act, trying to improve midi CSI whilst developing OSC CSI.

That said, I'll probably post one more build with fixes for Master track disappear problem, and hopefully Win reset behaviour, but then must really move over to OSC focus for a while.

Everyone - it was a joke... I thought the emoticons were enough to make that clear, but maybe not???

I'm an X32 user, and Geoff has said the best hope of getting a good working setup using this device is via OSC, so I'm eagerly awaiting something to test (before I get too busy again with work to do so!!).

But of course I know that he is also still in the phase of brainstorming ideas for the scope of the project, so I don't really want to stop that ;-)

That would be great Geoff

One side effect of the Master fader problem is that it seems to make "synch pages" out of sync by one, so what is on fader 25 say on the Channel Page will be on fader 26 on the Sends Page (or vice versa)

Regarding the Win problem, what seems to happen is that when a change has been made to the prefs, the faders all move to the bottom (as happens on Mac) but then the settings don't reload and communication between the surfaces an Reaper is lost. Restarting Reaper (usually) reconnects things.

Could you restate the syntax for the hold function, I'm a bit vague about it and haven't managed to get it to work.

Sure, it's very simple.

For example, you now have:

Play PressFB 90 5e 7f 90 5e 00

in MCU.rst

You could have:

Play PressFB t/play

in SomeOSCDevice.ost

Pressing play on either device (Midi or OSC), or clicking the mouse on the Play Button, starts Reaper playing.

There will also be OSCSurface entries in the CSI.ini file, much like the MidiSurface entries there now, to indicate things like I/O config, channel count, etc.

In other words only CSI.ini/.ost files are involved, all of the definitions in .rst/.axt/.fxt remain the same, at least that's the plan

No problem, questions are good

An .fxt file maps plugin parameters to control surface widgets (knobs, buttons, displays etc)
So each plugin needs one (or more- mono, stereo etc) .fxt file.

If you look in the Console One folder in the fxt folder, you can see some examples of plugins mapped to a Console One surface.

Since Geoff introduced the MapFocussedFX command, I’ve been busy mapping plugins to my C4 surface
