Default syncing two reapers and the vstplugins.ini

When my reaper installation is in a dropbox folder

if I open one reaper and it scans for plugins

will it ruin the vstplugins.ini file for the other?

Short answer: Yes.

I keep my desktop and laptop REAPER use the same settings. Even the (third-party) plugins are identical. But when i migrate settings from one to the other, REAPER will write scan new plugins the first time it launched with new settings.

I guess the only way to avoid this is not having it all in one folder? separate users or something?

I’m not familiar with dropbox syncing.

I thought about creating a github repo for my REAPER settings, thus i could pull/push to sync.

How about sync both REAPER settings to the same folder excluding the vstplugins.ini?
