Default A bit confused about the different solutions for music

Hi,

I have a few music mixes that I'd like to render to spatial audio. For now I'm going to stay simple, and and to provide spatial masters that I would upload to Youtube for people to enjoy in binaural audio on headphones. The idea is simply to give the listeners a more spatialized sound, with a better (hopefully) sense of instruments placement.

After reading blogs, posts on this forum, and watching Youtube, I've come to think that I could use plugins from IEM, Blue Ripple Sound (O3A Core) or DearVR.

Am I on the right track? (no pun intended)
Is one of those solutions better suited for what I intend to do?

I think the word you're looking for is "ambisonics."

If the end product is binaural, and won't ever be played back on multi-speaker arrays (quad, 5.1, and up), bypass Ambisonics and use Sennheiser AMBEO Orbit plug-in.

You can also get pretty fast with just the Haas effect which is very easy to do, just delay one channel and play with volumes and eq

For now, yes the idea is to first propose binaural files. But I'd also like to be able to render other formats in the future, if possible.
I'll check the Ambeo orbit plugin.
But what about the other solutions I mentioned? (IEM plugins, O3A Core, DearVR Pro)

I made a first mix in first order Ambisoncis using the IEM plugins, and compared to plain stereo mix I like its openness, even in binaural listening.

And more interestingly, I compared the results between mixing and exporting FOA, and mixing in TOA and exporting to FOA. Even if the final stage is reduced to FOA, there's still a little (but significant) bit more detail and sense of space when mixing in higher order ambisonics. (By mixing, here I mean panning the instruments in 3D space a couple EQ tweaks here and there).

Now Ambeo Orbit is replaced by DearVR Micro. I tried it and it's not very diferent from using the simple StereoEncoder plugin from IEM. But it has some intersting addintions that are worth invetigating further. Thanks.
(oddly anough, this free plugin has the Ambeo Orbit HRTF included as an option, while its paid big brother DearVR Pro has only the DearVR HRTF).

They "absorbed" the Orbit into the new DearVR plug-in. The old Orbit is still available though:
