Take Start Offset
This past Saturday, I had a band in the studio. Recorded 10 songs in 8 hours and it really sounds great. I captured the whole thing in one long project file, but there are several items in each track because I stopped recording during extended breaks. So I went through and made a region for each keeper take and dragged them all over to the start of the project and then deleted everything else.
Then I went to mess around with nudging the drum tracks around - basically just aligning everything to the snare track, and then checking to make sure it actually sounded better. I did this by just Alt+dragging the items around until the samples lined up. Easy.
But I only did this to the takes in the first song. I figured I'd just come back and extract the offset for each one and apply it to all the other takes on the track. Easy? Apparently not. All of the original offsets on all those takes are different because they come from different points in whatever file they're referencing. None of the takes that I slid around remember where they were to begin with, so they don't know how far I moved them.
I know I didn't move the snare, and I can do the math, but I can't find a place to read those values to enough precision. Like, it shows me M:B:T/M:S:mS or whatever, and I can't get it to change to just plain samples.
Q1: Is there a place/way to see that offset in samples?
Course, then I don't have the first clue what I would do with that information. Not sure there is any easy place to just type in how many samples I want it to move. If I have to just drag it around, I might as well do it by eye, since the readout of how much I've moved it won't be in samples.
Q2: Is there an easy way to apply an exact sample offset?
a: Is that what Nudge does? I thought that moved the whole item. That wouldn't be a deal breaker, I suppose.
b: Can I apply this to all the takes on a track at a time? Or like a selection?
Any help or hints would be greatly appreciated.

AFAIK, he's talking about the offset of the waveform as it relates to the item it lives in. I wonder if a script or something could do it.

Also change the ruler to sample then when you move items by mouse it shows sample offset + or -

I saw an option for "contents" in the nudge box, which is probably exactly what I want, but I still don't know how to figure out exactly how many samples I need to go. Changing the ruler does NOT change the pop up info when Alt+dragging OR the readings in Item Properties.

you have to move the first item by mouse to get the offset (It shows under mouse -/+ value) in the case above: it is 795 spl
then use that value to nudge others.

Yes, but you are moving, and I'm slipping. Or at least, I'd rather do it via slip editing. Or more importantly, I already have done it via slip, and I'd like to not have to undo the whole thing and start over. If I'm going to do that, then I'll either group the items or just select them all and move them all at the same time by eye and by hand and not even need any of this.

I can see the readings while moving the content(Alt+dragging)
It's 568 spl
Offcoarce not in Item properties, if I find a way to get the project sample rate i can write the script to convert Item properties value to sample then insert that value to item note.

Oh! Shit. I changed to samples by right-clicking the readout near the transport controls. Is that not the same as the ruler? Honestly didn't even look when I was testing. Like, why wouldn't they be the same, and who could guess which one would affect this? I'll give that a shot when I get home. Thanks, it really has been helpful!
