Default can't import a video in reaper (doensn't show up in the list)

Dear musician's,

This might be a very stuppid question but reaper doesn't detect my video (so I can't import it).
For example, a video is in my "downloadsfolder". I go to REAPER > insert > mediafile, but my video just doesn't show up in the list?

it is a m2ts format (renaming the file to .mkv doesn't work).

Can anyone give me a hint?

thanks!

I believe I had the same issue with some clips captured from a Hauppauge PVR. I have no idea why they chose mts as the "container" as it seems incompatible with many editing programs.
There are various conversion programs around that will produce REAPER friendly video -
I think I ended up using Handbrake. https://handbrake.fr/

You need however to read this before downloading anything in this area:

Please post later when you get a solution cos I think I ended up with some quality loss (hard to say cos the originals were VHS!)
