What exactly is the difference between Apollo and Apollo Simple?

Apollo Simple is a striped down version with only one TCP+freeze, one MCP+freeze and separator layouts.
Apollo has many beautifull layouts :-)
Try them theyre free !

OK thank you. Guess I don't fully understand what is happening with themes. You're saying if I use actions I can see different versions of the Apollo layouts?

I have mine setup as below but only because I saw a tutorial on Youtube and liked it. Am I effectively showing the MCP on the left and right of the TCP by doing this? The docking and stuff still has me confused but Reaper and the Apollo theme are awesome.

Just popped by to say "Thanks!" to witti and Lampshade for this theme.
I've tried many others, but I just keep coming back home to Apollo. It just feels right.
Thanks again!

The actions 'show sends','show inserts' and 'show fx parameters' can be used, too, as conditions in the code. So i used them for the mcp and as well for the tcp.

Tip: Install the font (it's in the zip). Makes everything looking much better, because many things were designed around this font.

I think it's the HaxrCorp_S8.fon font by default. Alternatively you can also use the PIXELA-CYR.ttf font with a size of 12. If you are on mac, use the PIXELA CYR.bin font.
(In Preferences-->Appearance-->Theme Editor it's the 'volume/pan label' font.)
OK thanks. Last time I downloaded Apollo was in March and that font was not in the zip. I have installed it now. Fantastic theme, so used to using it now, the standard Reaper theme looks really weird to me.

The PIXELA font looks dead ugly under OSX 10.9.4 (filled O and 0) and the font size is waaay too small when I try to put it at 12. Are there any alternatives on OSX for this font? Otherwise great update witti, thank you very much!

Very nice work Witti ! You made me dump Apollo B ! Dream daw here !
I think the naming of some layouts in MCP were switched between wide, simple, and sidebar....something like that...

I agree, for noobs it can be fairly complicated, but it actually is very simple...

...so just read the readme file for more infos and enjoy the features this theme has (having more than one 'layout' in one layout.)
I know I should but I cant read !!
It feels like the 'switch' is a hidden button on a nice piece of gear to make it sound phatter!

Default Track controls viewable ??

I really like this theme.

I was just wondering if its me or the theme but should i be able to see track controls with this theme? I have a macro set up to show track controls and track envelope for last touched FX, but on this theme the track control does not show up. I have tried changing to different layout in the tcp but none seem to show the track control option.

Is this working for anyone else ?

Cheers

It has some features other themes usually don't have.

To answer your question: Yes there are track controls, but they are only visible when parameters in the mcp are visible. I use this to unclutter things in the tcp.
Ahh... cool. got it.. Thanks Witti

I really like this theme, it has changed the way I look to the Reaper year ago, thank you! Also, thanks for the update but why did you changed the "easy" master mixel panel layout and minimize the meter? I like it and I went back to the old version since the new "easy" is not useful for me. Could you add the old one as easy 2 or sth else?

I'm really loving this theme, no idea why I'm just now learning about it!

Question - how can I change the meter font? I'm on OS X and the VU meters are set to something that looks like Tahoma or Verdana. Unfortunately, PIXELA-CYR isn't working for Volume/Pan labels, but I found a similar font (pixelmix) that does the job. I can't seem to change the metering font, though.

Not a major gripe, but I'd love it if I could fix it.

I would also like to know where exactly to get the right one. I've downloaded one and picked it in the preferences, but it doesn't change Reaper complety.
For example, the Main Toolbar with the buttons for "New Project" etc. remains in the default style, and not the gray-ish/yellow-ish buttons. Why is this?
I'm thinking I probably got me an older version, but I can't find any other downloads. The file is called 'Apollo4_b1', so I don't know.

For the rest it looks really nice though.

Hmm, I dó have a version that's simply called 'Apollo' and the file-name is indeed 'Apollo.ReaperTheme'. But it's hard to tell from the screenshot if it's the exact same one.

The one I have is really similar (see attachment) to 'Apollo4_b1', and I think it's a modified version by someone else. But I don't quite like it ás much.

Edit:

Actually, you dó have the one I want. Note the time-display, it's different between the two versions I have, but I need the one with the black background.
Except, again, in my case it doesn't seem to be complete. Not sure why. I've tried setting all the appearance-settings to the same theme basically.

Thanks! It does work. Yet it's again a little different.

It's weird how there are so many tiny variations.

It seems that the one from the OP is not in the stash anymore!

I am curious why he decided to delete his content.

I thought these things only happen in the Renoise community :-)

But seriously, does anyone have any insights into what happened?

I do not know what happened. I have only followed the updates as they come out.

However, Lampshade's original apollo is still available.

https://stash.reaper.fm/theme/920/Apollo%204

You can learn walter and edit that one if you like.

As for Witti, he/she will be missed here for both his js plugins as well as his mod of apollo and patience with most of us who at the beginning did not even know where to put a theme.

I do know he worked intensely hard on this theme for several years. He went through several incarnations and layouts. Perhaps, he decided to focus on something else.

To Witti, I hope you are making music instead, and enjoying yourself.

After trying a lot different themes, i stay with that. I love it. It shows everything i need, and my eyes don`t get tired too early.
I use this with the actual Reaper 5 pre`s. I hope it will work further. And if not, maybe someone will advance this theme. Please keep it alive!!!

This is so unfortunate for the community :-(
Witti, your theme has made working with Reaper so much nicer for so many of us, thank you for this!
Sad to see you leave for whatever reason, but hope you are doing what is better for you.
I wonder whether you permit redistributing your theme...

Yeah I hope it will work for a while if no update available! Definetly the best layouts I have found to build a nice workflow with separators, busses, folders, sends...Also very easy to see everything in condensed space. Would be a good idea to have all those in Default theme. So much good work Witti and Lampshade...

Original Apollo 4 theme by Lampshade is the most balanced and compact theme I've found by far. IMO deserves to be included with Reaper officially.

It needs a developer for maintenance and small bugfixes for later versions of Reaper (for example, routing button active area in Narrow layout is a little off on 5pre36).

My suggestion to improve reaper? there should be no default themes
Let the people decide/pick after the installation what theme they wanna use
since reaper can have unlimited GUI's why should one stick to one

those awkward default themes they scare people off seriously

Sorry to say Devs but totally agree ..

IMHO (and aware of the subjectiveness) , Reaper's default theme doesn't look attractive at all.

I remember back in the days when i bought Reaper (i heard such good stories about it) that i thought ;
Ooh gosh , such an ugly appearance.
I was delighted to experience that great themes were made which you could use.

Offcourse i am aware that, in the end, graphics are minor to what a DAW can really do.

But i think for newcomers, to take them really over the bridge to use Reaper, coming from another DAW, they need better Eye Candy.

I've been using an older theme: Rado-V OX mod Theme, for awhile now and it's just so great looking.

People who come into my studio and look at it say: wow that looks stunning, i also want to use Reaper !

Again: i know Eye Candy doesn't make a DAW any better in terms of workflow etc, but it's so nice to be able to look at a great looking user interface during work. It's a brain thang.

Just my 50 Cents.

Agreed, Problem is we users can't have the final decision some of the devs don't even use reaper they just are programmers why would they decide for us when they even don't use reaper. we users use it why do they not let us decide?

You know why because they follow someone who is ignorant and don't really know about software and does not care at all just for the money...

How do you know that the devs don't use Reaper? Until I see some kind of proof of that, I'm gonna say that's a ridiculous, presumptuous statement.

And if you've looked at the Cockos business model at all, you'll see quite convincingly that they are definitely NOT all about the money. I suggest you do your homework.
