Default Jogging plays all audio since previous playhead location

When I jog using my control surface REAPER plays back all of the audio between the old and new playhead locations. This is an unexpected behavior. I've linked to a video for demonstration. The expected behavior is that it would simply play the audio under the playhead (similar to scrubbing but much faster).

That's normal, you need to select a track(s) to have the audio on it/them to only play.

I don't believe this behavior is normal. It's not what happens when you jog manually by grabbing the edit cursor. It's also not what happens if you jog using the mouse wheel. Has anyone been able to recreate and solve this issue?

I've tried to summarize the issue in a new video.

Change your settings if needed!

Thanks for getting back to me. Unfortunately, this does not solve the problem. Selecting this option will do what it says (play only the selected tracks), however, it will still play all of the audio since the playhead was moved. This was suggested in a previous response, so I mentioned it in the video. Hopefully, this response will make it clear that this is not a solution to the problem. I really appreciate the feedback though. If you watch the video maybe you can help me with the manual mapping that I'm struggling with.

@pocketlocker

I just watched your video, your original post is misleading in the way you worded it.

Should have said that audio still plays when you stop the scrub.

I tried every setting that you had in Playback preferences and could not get the problem that you are having.

The more that I watch your video, I don't think is a problem with Reaper. I believe that the problem lies with your controller settings, most likely it is some 'delay' and not real time.
I have a controller (StudioMix and OSCII-BOT) and needed to adjust the settings until I got it to work correctly.

By the way I'm on v6.36

Go to the "MIDI Hardware, Control Surfaces, and OSC forum" and ask for help in fixing the problem, let them know what controller you are using and if you are using CSI or Moss.

Using CSI or Moss may solve your problem!

Someone there should be able to help you out (Better than what I could).

Someone there should be able to help you out (Better than what I could), as many of them use Behringer.

Just noticed that you have this posted in the correct forum.

Hope that someone else helps

How the double post (8 & 9) happened I do not know?

I am also annoyed by this behaviour

There should be some skipping function in the audio - like there is with video.

It makes no sense at all to have the program go "Oh - he jogged the wheel a lot, it probably means that he'd like to hear the audio at 8x for an extended period of time"
